Have you gotten more clumsy as you’ve aged?

^^^^^
I consciously stay more aware, especially in the kitchen when handling anything made of glass. I can wipe up spills, but pieces of broken glass seem to find their way all across the room; some not to be found for days.

Same here. I just need to be more cautious and don't pivot. Taking a hot casserole from the oven can be tricky.

I've found a few exercises for my hands which help, especially "bunny ears". This is where you start with your hand in a loose fist with the thumb up. Then you just extend your pointer and middle finger. I was originally shown this while holding a tennis ball in the hand but I found I could maintain the same rounded first without it and thereby do it anywhere and more often.

Thank you Mark. I will try a couple of these exercises.

I'm not so clumsy, and I can still walk pretty well.
But ladies the worst problem I have is always so embarrassing. I sit here doing very little because dealing with the oxygen hose is a big pain in the arse. So I sit here for hours, then my bladder tells me I gotta go, it doesn't seem urgent until I stand up then it is urgent! Sometimes I make it to the bathroom, and sometimes I don't. If I am near the bathroom I check in and go even if I don't feel the need. At night I wake up and I must have to go otherwise why am I awake. Again I get up and it becomes very urgent! I have some panties we call diapers, and I guess I am going to have start wearing the diapers all the time.

I had an industrial material handling maintenance career. Used to
getting physical and dirty, very dirty. Now I have the same tendencies
to mess myself up, use my arms as crowbars, you know force stuff
to happen with exertion at times when I should pick a better tool.
Use a 4' crowbar & 4x4" instead of a spade and my foot, that sort of stuff.

I sleep with warm mechanics gloves with velcro closures. exercise my hands
when awake. They like warm exercises. Stiffness goes away. I can still play
basketball, softball, golf those sort of things. Do watch the heat / humidity.

Basically shun fast foods and Liquors. We have a birthday party at the park
this afternoon. turbo's is loaded down now. Grandson is getting his stuff together
now. It's his lil brother's birthday party - 5 years.

I slow stretch most every muscle I have as I think of them using a routine.
Twisting / turning / every joint, spine, shoulders, neck even jaw. There are so
many unique movements one may not repeat for months if not a constant
exercise option. Slowly tweaking motions sort like shrugging. Golf is great
for many motions too. The back swing remains under control too! ... :coffee: ...

Think of the person slowly practicing contact sports / martial arts movements.

Slow movements .. such as Tai-Chi, are similar to what you've described.

I'm constantly dropping things lately. Today I dropped 2 earrings, from 2 different pair, and lost them somewhere in the labyrinth of my bathroom.
Walk around barefoot in bathroom and you'll find them.
While I had pain I'd wear a brace on my upper arm. It helped a little. I looked up my type of sprain on the internet and found little can be done to fix my torn ligament(s) (tendon?) even with surgery. I also read that that type of injury is common in seniors. I hope your sprain is minor and will completely heal. 🌷
I forgot to mention that I found that while I can lift an 8 pound barbell held with my left hand against my chest up into the air, when I hold it in my right hand against my chest, I can't budge it. It's as though the message to my hand from my brain was short circuited when I sprained it. At least for lifting the barbell from that position. No pain though.

I have a crooked middle finger and it might be arthritis but I put on a glove that is meant for support of fingers and it actually makes it straight when I wake and for most of the day. I just keep putting it on at night.
I wear my gloves for my hands too. It seems to work well is the thought there.

Just keep repeating your exercise. Maybe you will relearn the command long forgotten.

I practiced yoga for many years until it became difficult to get off the mat. Stretching seemed to be the point.
