Last week and then again today, I have gotten a call from someone posing as US Gov GSA FTS. I don't answer these calls but let my answering machine take them but of course they don't leave a message. I don't believe it is anyone from the government but I was just curious if you have been receiving calls from this scammer also.
 

No I haven't. I don't have a caller ID phone. The service is available with my cable bundle, I just don't have the phone for it. I get strange calls and when you hit *69 some of them come back as call: 0000000000. Who knows how these scammers route the calls that way. I hate answering them. Never engage. Just hang up.
 
No I haven't but I looked it up online and it is "an independent government agency". ..or so they say.

(The actual GSA government agency is real and can be found on Wikipedia. GSA stands for Government Services Agency.)

But the website for US GOV GSA FTS is unclear as to what "products" they say they are seeking feedback on through telemarketing to see if customers are satisfied and if "the products" are meeting their needs.

It appears to be self serving.... shady imo

"BLOCK" their phone number. You don't owe them your time to answer "customer satisfaction" questions.

I don't answer any calls I don't recognize. But today I got a $2850.00 check to do a mystery shopping trip for Ebay gift cards. I had heard of these before and a few years ago I got the same thing for Target. I don't shop either one. After researching the name Richard Fels, the sender, I shredded the check and letter. I knew it was a scam but I researched anyway to see how many other people had received the same thing. He seems to be a busy fellow with one site having 455 complaints. You are supposed to deposit the check, keep $400.00 as your fee and then buy Ebay gift cards with the rest. Scratch them off, photograph them and document your experience and send to him. Bad thing is the check is fake and you are responsible for the money. There are probably people that fall for it, but unless I return to work, nobody is sending me a check!!
 
That sounds like a variation of the scam that says you will receive many thousands of dollars as soon as you send them their "processing fee." Except that there is always just one more processing fee. Many older people have lost their life savings this way.

I'm not going to answer it. I don't answer calls I don't recognize. I was just curious if this call was in another part of the country also. I searched on-line for the phone number and there wasn't any scammer reports listed for this number or name.
 
I know. You're a smart gal. The video I posted says if you have an Android phone then you can get notifications as soon as the phone starts ringing that will tell you who it is exactly.
 
I fell for it last December,deposited the check,in the meantime some charges came through, it took about a week for my credit union to find out it was a phony,wound up paying back the 400 .00 and change that I used...
 
Yes. But what I have done is put my phone on "Do Not Disturb". The only ones that can get through are those on my contact list.

I also had the voicemail disabled. You can still see the number that called. The only ones I answer are local calls.
 
More commonly they will claim to be the IRS, they are all scams. Screening through an answering machine works. IRS, Microsoft, etc never phone anyone.

I don't have the Android but I do have a blocking device so if they keep on pestering me, I will block them regardless of who they are. Whoever it is, if they want to reach me, they can send it in the mail and there is no guarantee I will respond to that either.
 
I received a few. I'm on the no call list but that doesn't always work. If you have caller ID on your phone and it shows up a phone number you can report it to FTC.gov/complaint (for those in the USA). They finally stopped called because I'd turn in the new number each time. Don't know if that would help you.

I'm on the no call list too but like you, it doesn't always work. Thank you for this information! If they try again, I will turn the number in. I have deleted it right now so I don't have a number to turn in but I will keep this in mind.
 
I just had several conversations with people calling my mother, who is on the "Do not call list"..they are relentless......

I got a whole lot ugly with some...

I'm sure my moma was ashamed of the words that came out of her baby's mouth.

But in the end glad I did..

You got to make them not want to call you back......:eek:
