A friend told me yesterday postage stamps were going up again second time this year. I rarely use them but at times I have too. It is going to be 1.00 per stamp if this keeps up. The Postal service are pricing themselves right out of business.

someone posted (unintended pun) this the other day ....don't be too upset... you could be paying £1.10p for one which is what ours costs... that's £1.40 US

Yes, I heard that. I always buy the Forever stamps and one book lasts a long time. I pay everything with bill pay. There is one stubborn place who will not accept bill pay but they will accept payment by CC over the phone so I do that.

Personal correspondence is now email or text so I seldom use a stamp.

Whoa, that's gonna cost me $1.32 a year
Glad I bought the forever stamps when they were cheap
They've lasted....well....forever
Don't get too comfortable Gary... we have always had forever stamps here too... but guess what the Post office have done?... they've made them illegal after this month.. because new ones have been made which bear a Bar code, and so all our Forever stamps are going to be of no use after this month and can't be exchanged

They initially only gave a month's notice for everyone to send off their unused stamps to be exchanged and refunded.. there was a huge outcry.. so they extended the date for 6 months.. that's up this month.. and tbh, they've not given it the publicity it needs, so there's literally going to be thousands of people stuck with expensive Stamps they can no longer use or exchange

Almost 40 years ago when I lived in Germany, the cost of a stamp for something being mailed within the country cost $.75...don't remember how much it cost for international mail.

Ooops sorry I thought I looked and did not see it posted. I guess I did not go back far enough on the page. oh my goodness are you serious? That is outrageous!

WHAT????!!!!

Those lying bastards!!

Now I must use the remaining two this month

Think I'll send a couple love letters.....to my post office

On a serious note;
They best honor the ones they sold
Selling us illegal stamps is criminal

well technically they are not illegal when they sell them or sold 'em... but just be aware (USA)..that the same thing can happen to you without much notice.. and you'll be left with a bunch of Expensive stamps that you can't use..

OMG!!! The price of US postage is going up 3 whole cents. I don't know why some are bothered about the increase in price of postage. Bread used to cost 21 cents/a loaf. Try buying a 21 cent loaf of bread, today. I don't think the increase will force most of us to eating only 9Lives.

Our government, as always, just doesn't get it! As they continue to drive up the cost of postage due to falling demand for use of the postal system, people respond by working out ways to accomplish their business and personal needs by using the internet and other technologies to fulfill their communication needs. They are actually sealing their own demise...

Well, by the time it happens here, I'll probably have used both of them

What do you mean NOT TRUE...I said the Post office HERE did it... never said the post office in the USA...I said to no get complacent if you have forever stamps because this is what happened to US...

Good lord why can't people read posts properly..
Yeah, I misread it too

True, as far as letters
But, in the US, they still beat out UPS/FEDX and other carriers in regard to packages

Precisely what's happened here..

You people all have a bargain cost for a stamp. Here in Canada we pay $1.07

And that's why sending Christmas cards have gone to online greetings.
I have heard Canadian post is expensive. I've made a few online purchases from Canada like on Etsy. I can't fault them for the postage they charge. I watch a kitten rescue cam in Canada and want to get one of their t-shirts. Postage will probably be up there but we are both on the west coast.
