Have you hunted ( foraged ) for mushrooms in the wild?

We have about 15 acres of wilderness forest. This time of year, especially after several days of rain and the temp getting near freezing, mushrooms start popping up. We went looking today and found several. We only eat the Oyster mushrooms which are very distinct. None big enough today, but in a few days there is a good possibility that we could get a bunch. Our average is about 8 lbs a season. :)

No but when Matsutake mushrooms are in season, a bunch of tents spring up in Chemult OR about thirty miles from our cabin

And among those tents are huge tents of dealers/buyers
I heard they can make @500 a day

I'm sure it is
I think the licensed dealers in our neck o the woods cover that.
Not sure
The pickers I've talked to seem on the professional, going from site to site
It was pretty lucrative four or five years ago
Not so much now (at least around here)
