Have You Tried Using A Large Print Keyboard White Keys and Black Letters?

Good to hear it's subtle. Sometimes things are too bright, too dark, weird shading, etc.
Yeah, what makes it work for me is that the lighting isn't at all intense. But it's adjustable, too.

When my teenage grandson spends a weekend, if he uses my PC, he changes the keyboard to multi-colored mode and increases the intensity. I don't know how he can stand it. 😵‍💫

I know that keyboard would help me out. I hit a lot of double lettersd. :) I wonder what will happen when voice to text takes over the majority of our posts. I wonder if that will change the culture of our language habits. I have a feeling that it is going to change our communications significantly.
I really wouldn't want to use voice to text for making posts. l would feel like l've lost my privacy like someone listening to my phone conversations. I'm a very private person.

I see what you mean, I'm the same way. They would not only have a record of exactly what you said, but they would have your voice recording too.

Did you know they have the "wireless" setup now? :)

I'm not sure exactly what you mean but l have been using wireless
Keyboards for a while now. But l'm also having trouble with my mouse.
The curser flies around the screen until it lands where l need it to be.
Maybe l should go back to knitting.

Just ordered a Zopsc-1 keyboard from Amazon. White keys with bold black letters. I'll report back to say if I like it or not. Was inexpensive, so no big risk there. :) Thanks to eveyone for your advice and input.
That sounds very good, white with black, and I am glad to hear that you've ordered one!
Definitely let us know how it is, for you.

In addition, I was thinking that a possible help with your need for one with a longer wire, that you could possibly have a power strip, that plugs into the wall, and then you'd be able to plug all of your devices with shorter cords, into that.

It works pretty well!

Thanks Kaila. 💙 It came last night and I set it up today, wire was long enough. I don't love it, it's very cheaply made, which I expected, and very light weight. But I have been using it a little today with no complaints about movement.

I don't need to use a flashlight with this keyboard, but a desk lamp helps. With my regular keyboard, the desk lamp was not enough and a flashlight was needed.

I'm glad I bought it, to check it out. Currently I'm not in the mindset to really love anything, but not having to scan the keyboard with a flashlight is definitely a plus. I will keep using it so I can get used to it, and maybe will be happy enough to keep it for good. If not, I keep an open mind to other suggestions and options, like the backlit ones.

Thanks for your advice Kaila, always appreciated.

It's good to read your update, @SeaBreeze

At least it works a little better than your previous set-up, which is good, though I understood what you wrote, both about its shortcomings, and about how you are feeling. Very understandable, for sure. 💌💌💌

Using this new one for now, will give you better specific knowledge of what features you would want in selecting one that's even better for you, at some time in the future.

It will be worth spending more on a different one, once you are more certain about what will best fill your own needs.

I completely agree Kaila, thanks for your reply. I have been using it today and I don't hate it.

I have not had to use a flashlight, which is a big plus, and even though the lighting is not great in my computer room (two 60 watt bulbs in ceiling fixture which should not take higher wattage), that is okay.

I do like to try a cheaper version of a product before I invest in a more expensive unit. In no hurry, will keep on using it, cheap and light weight, but functional for one with poor vision.

If I look to order another, I will definitely consider a different type. I ordered a regular clock for my bedroom nightstand, because I had trouble reading the usual red digital alarm clocks.

I do like it because it has a subtle back light that shows when the room gets dark, I realized it is easier on the eyes if set at an angle, I had it straight and directly faced toward me.

These seem like simple common sense things, but I'm just slowly learning what works for me. Your insight and advice is true and appreciated. 🧡

I've been thinking the same thing.
That's actually a big plus.

I have found, myself too, that any small helpful changes that I discover, each make a significant difference for me.

And it's excellent that you are managing to make a few steps, during this challenging time.

Do you have a touchscreen monitor, that easily enlarges most all print?

There's no touch screen on my desktop, which is the computer I use most with the larger monitor. I have a laptop with optional touch screen that I never tried. Hugs, and thanks.

I don't know if you'll find this helpful, but remember that LED light bulbs use far less energy than their incandescent predecessors. My 100 watt equivalent LED bulbs only draw 14.5 watts. If your ceiling fixture is rated for two 60 watt incandescent bulbs you can easily replace them with two 100 watt equivalent LED bulbs. It will make the room much brighter.

BTW, if you do this you might want to get bulbs rated for "enclosed fixtures". Check out @dilettante's post The Cheapo LED Bulb Scam

A pole lamp is also an option to consider, which makes it easier and safer to reach the lightbulb, and gives a helpful light over a dim part of a room.
