Having cataract surgery in December

does it seem kinda scary? i am not keen on being awake while a knife is coming at my eye.
It is quick and painless, you're just awake enough to hear them speak in the room, but you're not having pain, pulling away or blinking. The sedation is monitored and in my two experiences, it was just right. We're not talking horror movie here, lol.

Yes, it is very easy to get this done.
I was able to put this off for many years but my eye doctor said to me one nice summer day- why wait---and driving home I realized he was correct because if I waited too long I might have the surgery scheduled during a major snow event and the Hospital was not close to where I live.
You will be fine!
After both surgeries I treated myself and those who drove me there ,to Chinese food take outs.
The best Chinese food around here is quite near the hospital.

Have you tried putting the drops in from the side of the eye. Tilt your head and put the drop in from the side instead of right on the iris. Works for me.
Good advice, that's what I do. Also, you can pull down the lower lid a bit and put the drop in there if it helps.

Yes.First eye is on the 19th with post op follow up on the 21st. Second eye is Next month.
Make sure the first is perfect before doing the 2nd. My vision was fine in both eyes, but one was way off color and getting worse. The surgery and post-op swelling apparently caused my retina to get a bit thicker, though now clear in color, it was a very much out of focus. It took it 4 months to settle down and the vision improve. In my case the other eye is fine, doesn't need a new lens and it sees clearly, in focus.

Cataract surgery is a simple procedure that you will need to put eyedrops in each eye for a few weeks.

with my anxiety i get freaked out pretty easy. a lady friend i had said they told her she couldn't sneeze afterwords. i don't know how that's possible. especially if you have allergies and sneeze big. you know anything about that?

also i worry some because the cataract surgeons here have screwed up the eyes of a couple people i know. one is now legally blind. you know?

I have allergies too. You're just not supposed to strain yourself, so if you reel in your sneezes you're okay. Not supposed to bend over from the waste to pick something up from the floor or lift anything heavy that would make you strain.

Like any operation, I'm sure a few people had bad experiences, some may or may not have been directly caused by the cataract surgery itself. After my first eye, I was looking forward to having the other done because my vision was much brighter than it was. Unfortunately I have vision issues that cataract surgery could not cure.

i think calling it surgery is an over-statement. i had right eye done during the summer of 2020... during the peak of covid. i remember a series of eye drops for about a week before the procedure. walked in with super thick glasses and drove myself to follow-up appt the next morning. i still need reading glasses,

don't worry... the procedure is a snap.

OK..tomorrow the 19th I will be going in at 1PM Eastern US time for the first eye.
I know all my friends in my building, and here in SF are telling me cataract surgery is a breeze and all (and to remember to put my eye drops in). But I am still feeling my normal anxiety. It is just me and the way I am.

My next door neighbor told me she would stop in and check on me. So I am fine there,
I just wish I did not get so anxious. I will post when home, but it may be a day or so before my vision is OK to concentrate

My first eye is being done next week..on the 19th. Not sure if I will be up to being online THAT day, but will starta new thread when I am able to see well enough to post. Probably the next day. Firs follow up appointment is the 21st.
I am thinking of you this week, and will continue to, Marie. I think you will be very happy to get this procedure done. And to have it behind you, soon.
:geek:

Best of blessings with your surgery Marie. It will be over before you know it.
