Having cataract surgery in December

Things will improve And become easier for you, over the next few days,
@Marie5656
If you are worn out today, don't worry. Hang in there.
And congratulations for getting this far!🤩

Have you had the optometrist pop the lens out of your glasses? You won’t need it for distance. Buy a cheap pair of readers to tide you over until you get a new prescription.

I cannot. I have to wear it to bed, so no glasses. And if I wear it out, I am not driving, so do not need them then. But I am able to function OK. I can watch TV with it on. Would have to take it off if on computer

Did you do both or just one at a time? When my wife got it they put a close up lens in one eye and one for focusing out further in the other. Apparently your brain just learns to pay attention to the on that's needed.

Some people love what your wife got but some people hate it and never really adjust. The best way to try it is to try contacts like that first. Since it’s a permanent decision I just got distance in both.

I thought what a great idea when I read that !!! ... but then ... and it's been 20yrs since cataract surgery ... I thought ya know, my vision was so bad with cataracts I don't think contacts would have worked in my eyes to emulate what I would have been trying to emulate.

I was offered the differing focal lengths in each eye OR both eyes having either near or distance vision. And like you, I chose distance in both.
I have no regrets and it's been a good choice for the available lens at the time. I wear off the shelf readers for computers, reading and detail work.

Am anxious to hear how Marie's visit tomorrow goes and hoping only for the very best !!!

Well, went to my one week follow up after my first surgery. I was pronounced healing well, and ready for the second eye. Have to just do one of the original 2 prescribed eye drops until next surgery on Jan 2. No more eye shield at bed time.
This one was on my left eye, which was the worse of the two. I will still have an astigmatism, so will still need glasses after all is done. But a new prescription as my vision will be better..just not perfect

It's very good to read your update, Marie!
You are getting these steps, behind you, which is good and positive;
and that next one will be behind you, very soon, too!

Great news Marie, I'm very happy for you. (y)

:So, I got a call for my appointment to do my right eye on the 2nd. I have to be there at 6:15 in the morning. It is almost an hour away!!! Wow.
That will be so very exhausting, with your going there at that extreme early hour!

Try to get as much rest, ahead of that, today and on January 1, as you possibly can, Marie.
And have something prepared ahead of time , that will be extremely easy to get to eat, on Tuesday after you get home.

We'll be thinking of you.
