Having coffee and observing the staff

There is a new employee, male, about 24 years old.
He has been here less than a week.
I have seen him 3 of those days.
Today I watched him come to work, walking as slowly as possible.
The look on his face was that he most certainly does not want to be at work.
Been at work for 40 minutes now, a totally negative disposition the whole time.
This has been his attitude since he started working here.
Honestly, if I was the owner here, I would send him home and tell him not to come back.
Some of you might say, everyone has a bad day, I am too harsh.
Sure, we all have bad days, but you do not take it to work.

is he there under duress?.. does he not want to be there at all.....has he been forced to work by having his dole cut off ..?... perhaps that's the reason.

I don't know if it's the same today as it was when I was young...if you left a job of your own volition, then you couldn't claim unemployment benefit.. however if you got sacked..you would be allowed to claim dole... so that's another possibility perhaps he's hoping he'll get sacked... and he can go back to his life on the dole, and playing computer games all day...

Here in Australia, you cannot claim unemployment if you walk out of a job of your own volition.

I think you might be a little confused. I worked in a large industrial factory.

Young people today have NO desire to work... I see it every day, like in coffee shops or grocery stores... It's pretty sad... I was out at 14 or 15, knocking on doors looking for part-time work...Driving around town here, I see all kinds of Help Wanted signs...

They just have no want in their brains to work...and if they do, they are not happy unless they start at the top...It's sad, it's very sad...

They made a huge mistake taking paper routes out of the world... A paper route is what got me started...I delivered the morning newspapers and then the evening paper routes...
