having lunch with some one you admired

If it's lunch it must be the Barefoot Contessa :rose: aka Ina Garten, at her home in East Hampton NY.

She is smart, happy, talented, fun, intriguing, successful, entertaining and inspirational.
It will no doubt be her "fabulous" homemade fresh food, wine, fresh flowers on the table, laughter, and good conversation..."what could be better"

My maternal grandmother. She died a very long time ago and there are so many questions that I have about her life.

I totally agree with having lunch with Tim Russert. I also really like David Gregory. But for the most part it would be Barack and Michelle Obama. I can't express how much I miss them in the oval office. I felt safe and good then. I'm just speaking sincerely for myself. For others feeling differently, I am not arguing with that. We can only feel the way we feel. That's all.

I enthusiastically agree!

Is her show still on?
...and do they still play the porn music while she's cookin'?

Ya, I'd do lunch with her.

I've never heard that kind of music (is that a joke I'm not getting? I'm slow). I watched Ina Garten's show today at noon (saturday). I think it was the Food Network channel. It could be reruns. I don't know if she does any new ones anymore.

There's a lot more to Ina Garten than food.

Got her MBA at George Washington Univ. while working at the White House

She flipped houses for awhile, got her Pilots license. Follows the stock market

Worked on the White House staff for years with the budget committee.

Worked with Nixon and the Bushes...writing nuclear energy & budget policies etc.

Nuclear Budget Analyst for Ford and Carter

Visited Paris where it turned her on to food.

Owned a successful bakery with many celeb clientele.

And of course published a lot of very successful Cookbooks.

Mentored Martha Stewart

And has been happily married since 1968

I may seem a little morbid but most of the people I would love to have lunch with or just a visit would be my parents first/ My grandfather who was missing for a month and then found dead. On a lighter side Dean Martin and of course Elvis Presley.

That's an interesting idea but I would have gone back a couple of years further. But then my life would have been very different and I wouldn't have learned the lessons that I have learned so I wouldn't know what I would tell that kid. Maybe that's why we're not allowed to change the past.

If it were possible I'd love to have lunch with my younger self. Say about 13 years old. Would I ever give myself an earful! I bet I'd listen too.

Nothing would'a changed for me

At 13 I would still be pretending to listen

Lara, thanks for all that info on Ina. I had no idea. I like how calm she always seems. What a busy lady she has been. I thin she needs to write a biography of her life so far. I'm always jealous of all the friends she has.
