Health Care CEO murdered in NYC in a targeted attack

If this CEO was about to become a whistleblower to explain how this works to the DOJ, it is easy to see why someone would have wanted him not to be able to testify.
I've seen no suggestion that this CEO was about to become a whistleblower about UHC's egregious practices. Perhaps about the insider trading scandal, but that seemed to be limited to him and perhaps a few others in the C-suite. Killing him wouldn't thwart that investigation - stock trade timing is easily uncovered.

It’s probably been written here, but I didn’t read all of the posts, but the video of the shooter shows he used a suppressor on his pistol. Most people think a suppressor is the same as a silencer. This is not true. Suppressors really do not act as a silencer that we see on TV and in the movies. In some cases, a suppressor will quiet the shot, but not completely.

I have yet to see a suppressor that really fully quiets a shot. I have one that I keep in my safe, but other than taking it to the range, I have never had to use it thankfully.

Don't silencers reduce the efficiency of the gun?
Absolutely it does. However, when a shooter gets as close to his victim as this dude got, the shots are very effective. If you saw the video of the shooting, you saw the first shot hit his victim in the leg. This allowed him to walk up on the victim and put 4 or 5 shots in his back.

The suppressor not only reduces the velocity, but also the accuracy will be minimally reduced. I am not a competition shooter, but I have been to matches and spoke to different shooters about using suppressors. I learned that some shooters make their own suppressors or will take a manufactured suppressor and engineer it to be more accurate, but the velocity will still be somewhat reduced.

I also noticed on the video that the shooter had to rack each shot. Can someone please explain to me why he had to do this? I can understand him doing that if his gun jammed, but each shot? The only possibility I came up with is that the ammo he used was not made to fit his pistol.

Somebody said it was a Welrod pistol...

^^^ It's a weird action that supposedly doesn't eject the brass which could have been the reason this style pistol was chosen.

I don't think it's been verified that the weapon was actually a Welrod or reproduction of a Welrod.

What are you, a big baby? I was born in NYC and there are virtually very few places that are unsafe. I go where I want, always have, no problems. Geez, you must be easy to scare, pops tiger.
Sure, walk around East St. Louis early morning / late evening and shoot your mouth off. ... :coffee: ... Walk down N. Broadway in St. Louis the same and shoot your mouth off. They got Barricades on the sides of the streets. They don't even slow down for red lights. Sure, those guys are asleep at 1PM.

Here is the Deal. The killer with his silver back pack was on the move for around 12 days, via bus and staying in NYC. He knew the targets
Schedule was there 5 minutes early and shot him from a distance. It all points to an inside job to get rid of the CEO because of mistrust.
They have DNA and evidence. That guy will also disappear is a good thought. Looks to be early mid 20's-30's. My immediate impression of his picture is a DJ / talk show Radio personality. Impossible to forget that big straight French nose / Heavy Black Eyebrows.

A friend of mine has a 22 pistol with a suppressor that is almost silent. My pump pellet rifle is louder... The bullet hitting the target is louder.
I have a suppressor on a 300 BlackOut for night hunting, and it is defiantly quieter but still noticeable.

As far as being driven to this by being denied, I can understand it... Was pushed about that far one time... Had severe Chest Pain, and diagnosed with severe PTSD due to work, Medical Director suspended me from work nearly 2 months, and sent me for treatment. Insurance refused to cover it saying it was Workman's comp, Workman's Comp said it wasn't work related. Bills piled up since I had no income, add the debt from the medical.... We nearly lost our house as the cascade grew...

I heard reports it was a woman they were still looking for. Could've been a spotter or just a bystander.
Let me throw another thought into this to ponder. When this first happened, the reports said the victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead of a gun shot wound... TO THE CHEST.
Now all I hear is shot in the back. What if there was a second shooter off to the side and this guy was just a dupe? Seems like everybody is concentrating on the back shooter only.

Notice how many millions are being spent on this investigation. Meantime, in the US the rate of solved murders stands at less than 50%. For instance, Oakland, CA clears only 27% of its murders. Guess you have to be a CEO of a mega corporation to get law enforcement's full attention.
Oakland clears few murders because its mayors and local district attorneys see crime as a legitimate expression of frustration with being downtrodden. Or some such BS.

Er, a wound caused by a bullet that enters your back and then your chest is a chest wound.
