Heard an interesting fact from financial advisor..

Not stalking, I have good memory that's all. And when I saw your house picture, the first thing came to my mind was: good luck with that stairway in the living room when you are even older.
You do have a good memory! Kudos for that.

Don't worry about it. The master bedroom/bath are on the first floor so we can live on the first floor when we get older and can just admire the staircase without ever having to climb it.

I'm actually growing to like you. Go figure.

Why feel the need to share this with strangers on the internet? My resources aren't even something I share with the closest of my friends. It isn't important to anyone but me and my hubby and the guy trying to sell us a car. :ROFLMAO:
i have no problem discussing any numbers .

why should i be .

a few decades ago i was featured in a money magazine article . millions of people read my story . so discussing numbers is done all the time

this is a financial board ,but unlike true financial forums this forum is a mixed bag of people who are not interested in learning or doing things better .

they simply are here to just call those who have done better financially names or calling them braggarts .

other forums information is freely exchanged with actual amounts as everyone is there for one common goal . that is to learn .

here you have many who run on myth , misinformation and things they parrot from other misinformed people .

this is not a real financial forum , it’s just a get together of the haves and have nots who duke it out with no one learning

to be honest it has really become a waste of my time trying to educate people here or squash the myths i see posted .

so i am done here . its really useless as a financial forum for exchanging ideas.

most here would be better off discussing their cats or what to do with left overs than get involved in discussions about anything financial or economics .

i tried bringing fire to the natives but its not worth having to hear the bull sh*t here .

so good luck to those who really did want to learn and exchange ideas but the crap that goes on with these others who just want to believe their own bull sh*t and argue those points they know little about has brought this to an end

Well it isn't a financial forum in the first place - it is a general social forum. For discussing any topics people are interested in. ( except politics)
Of course nobody is interested in every topic, so just skip over ones about cats or whatever doesn't interest you. Like we all skip over things we are not interested in.
I am not interested in how rich you are or how many millions you made nor do I want to be educated by you.

You sound very full of your own importance.

Actually I will not contribute here anymore

It’s wasted words and it seems few care to learn myth from facts or to do anything different then they think

So it’s just seems a waste of time for me

Then u have to deal with the name callers here
Yes, seriously, I know it's hard to take, but neither of us are perfect either.

There is still plenty to be learned in this old world, financial and otherwise. I hope you stick around and help the rest of us with what you are good at.

Yes, for example, I would like to know what his profolio positions of this $4 million wealth now.

Au contraire. My father was a financial advisor so I'm no luddite. It just so happens that I like cats, cars, entertainment and food and still know how to make money. However, making money is not my sole driver in life as it seems to be yours.

You've provided some solid tips in the past and I've reacted positively to them, but I personally have no need for your financial advice since you tend to talk down to people who may not be savvy investors. Please do come back and share when you reach $5 million.;)

I have realized in these past 3 days that the Lord
has more plans for me to tell Jokes here on SF. But
I gotta fix Turbos too. ... ;) ...

Have you driven in the Country and seen Farmers mowing
their ditches? Ya stop and ask, "How Ya doing."

"Well the AC quit" .... "The Lil Woman Quit, and I'm out of Stuff to chew on." .....

Ok. I am guessing your first million comes around at the age of 60 or later from the sale of your home. I do admire your courage to sell your house and invest all that money at such age.
I do remember 2011 was the year when the real estate market bottomed out due to subprime crisis. I suppose you sold your house before subprime crisis in 2008, rent, then jump in the real estate market in 2011. Good timing, a lot of people make good profits on this route. It's not just commercial real estate, but also residential real estate.
But now, you don't have a nice home to show off. If you had not sold your home in 2008. That house would probably worth > $2.5 millions.
If you invested $1 million in S&P index ETF in 2010, you would have >$4.1millions. If invested in 2011 you would have >$3.5 millions.
Skip all the work on the co-op property investment madness.

see this is what i mean by you waste my time with your stupid worthless assumption .

we bought the business in 2003 . within one year we got all our money out with just the first sale which was 7 figures .

and no it didn’t cost us anywhere near a million , in fact it was half that .

and yes our share of the profits were invested in the markets as they came in .

you are clueless to what we have made over the years , what we spent and how much went for taxes and how much we have donated

so stop wasting my time and your own time with stupid assumptions

$0.5 million in S&P index ETF in 2003 would have turned to >$5.36 millions in 2025, without the headach of co-op property investment madness, and it's from the two of you, but ok if you have to claim your success.
Just saying....

and we did way better .

remember, we actually put up 250k and my son 250k and my wife’s brother in law 500k .

we sold off 9 apartments with 7 going for 7 figures each and two being dumped for 360k .

that was millions split by us and we had our money back in one year after the first sale and well a head by the second

that money we made from our share was invested in markets as it came in over a 13 year period and we have been spending it down enjoying it since 2003 with plenty left over for our retirement

so your calculations couldnt be more wrong .

we had our money back where it all was invested in markets and compounded and was enjoyed for more than two decades by us and it can still fully support us
