Hearing "things".

My tinnitus is at its worst when I first get up. I hear low rumbling every morning. The noise varies. Sometimes I can swear I hear an engine running. Other times a helicopter. I've had it so many years that I've learned to live with it. What I wouldn't give for a few moments of real silence.

The rumbling in my neighborhood is my round-the-corner neighbor's idiot kid revving his engine for the fun of it. He especially likes to do it VERY early on Sunday mornings. It is my understanding that several of my irate neighbors have "discussed" the matter and the City's rules about mufflers with both the kid and his father and maybe even the City noise abatement folks, and it doesn't happen much any more.

I also live near a large air base and we often hear helicopters, military jets, etc., but I don't notice those much since I'm quite accustomed to them.
