Heckler removed at Peter Kay show

This is an interesting discussion today on the media.
Hecklers can be great, adding fun to an evening of laughter. However, when they overdo it, that can be a problem. People who were there to see Peter Kay seem to have opposing views in this case, some saying it was right to remove two persistent hecklers and others saying it was over the top to do so.
My view is a little heckling is fine but a persistent person who doesn't know when to give it a rest can ruin things for everyone.

Peter kay went over the top removing these heckelers in my view.

The first man was calling out a catchphrase.. now if it was annoying peter he could have just asked his security to have a quiet word..instead he had the theatre put thelights up and started to scream hysterically at his security to beat the mean up,... and throw him out..that was disgraceful...second was the lady who called out..''we love you, peter'.. and he scremed abuse at her, and also had her removed very physically.. while inferring she was overweight...

I think he's lost the plot, people had waited 20 years to see him live.. he made 28 million from this tour, he could have endured a couple of hecklers in a theatre of thousands ... I really he needs mental help...

As for hecklers, some comdians thrive on them.. Jimmy Carr for one... they love it.. Ricky Jervais.. for another

..but rightly so if these people in the audience think they're so funny, perhaps they should hire a theatre and put on their own show... instead of ruining someone else's show

Oh dear, is that what really happened? I did see that some people who were there said something along those lines. Yet others thought the heckler did need to be removed.
I like Peter Kay but this sounds a bit much.

what actually happened was that Peter asked the audience...do they need to be thrown out?.. and the majority of the audience, thought it was part of the act, and they were to say yes..pantomime style.. they didn't realise he was going to order his security detail to beat them up...
yes hecklers are annoying, and I'm sure some of the audience felt that they should be removed but they were not being offensive..the one guy was just shouting ''garlic bread''..which was a tagline from another Peter Kay show.. and the lady shouted ''we love you peter''... hardy any cause to have them attacked...

I have seen him on the internet as enjoy comedy but to quote someone from your side of the pond " His time as a stand-up has gone and passed.''

Peter Kay issues statement after throwing out tour hecklers in foul-mouthed tirade

I have done 6 amateur not paid , lol " angry comedy " in my 7 years living in Miami based on my observations and I even get death threats yelled out by the audience but most with a sense of humor love it , I tear Miami to shreds .

I absolutely agree... I've always enjoyed his humour, he's a family comedian.. but this has left a very sour taste..I think his career is over....

I think and say this having seen his older material that he has lost the desire , got sick of it .

I agree, and I believe he's doing this ÂŁ28 milliontour, to fill the coffers, and then his intention is to leave comedy forever, because I think he's lost the love for it......however given this latest situation..like Will Smith..the decision might be made for him...

As you know UK stand up comedians tend to be more rated X then USA .

Not rated X because tactfully said but incredibly witty , fast on '' her '' feet and great at improv was Dame Edna Everage and though Australian , think she lived in UK .
most of her work done from UK .

Now I've read more about what happened, I'm not impressed. What a shame .

yes he wasn't my favourite comedian by a long chalk... but he was a genius.. and to be a really good comedian you have to be very quick thinking, and very clever.. and Bob Monkhouse was the King of that....

If same Bob Monkhouse Celebrity Squares comes to mind .
yes he was a stand up comedian most of his life.. he also wrote jokes from Bob Hope early in his career.. and he said Hope was so unappreciatve of his joke writers.. that he would make them wait for payment, and then call them to his home and make them stand at the bottom of the winding staircase, and throw money down for them to scramble for..

If that's how Bob Hope treated people, it's simply appalling.

My post above should have said Bob wrote jokes FOR Bob Hope... way back in his early career.... he was one of many joke writers for Hope... he said he was a hard task master. One time Bob M slipped away to the toilet, to have Hope, hammering on the door saying ''there's paper in there keep writing''.. and he wasn't joking..

A group of very talented writers / comedians who all turned out to be very nice are Kids in the Hall bunch which I find brilliant skits , they came to mind as not all comedians are jerks but often surprised as to who was / is .

having worked in TV myself and my soon2BX... he still does, I don't..... we've met just about every type of comedian there is... some are nice ( not many).. some are downright rude , some are miserable... but mostly they're not very nice...

'' but mostly they're not very nice.''

Couldn't that be said about most Celebs ?
