Height - Then & Now

"Shrinking" seems to be part of growing older....as the joints and bones, etc., begin to wear. I was 5'9" for years, and have probably lost 1" over the past couple of decades....not much can be done about that, it seems.

hit max height of 5'8" in late teens. never thought much about shrinkage since no one ever checked it... just forced to get on that nasty scale. seems (at 72) i've shrunk to 5'6"

In my prime I clocked in at 6’1”, but am now measured at 5’11”. Docs tend to measure you in just your stocking feet, however. Give me some 60’s or 70’s thick platform sole shoes, and I can make up for some of that difference!

OMG Jules...you are tiny! I bet you're small but mighty though. :D I'm 74 and used to be about five foot three and three quarter inches. A few years ago, the nurse at the gastroenterologist's office measured me and said I had lost 1/4" from last time. This year, I was not measured so based on the last measurement, I figure I'm five feet three and a half inches. Around the time of the last measurement I had started noticing that my sleeves were longer on me. Some I actually had to tack up. Seeing some here lost 2 inches or more, I'm thinking I probably lost more than that 1/4". I try to help myself by not slouching and remembering to "stand tall". :D

I've gone from 5' 5&3/4" to an even 5'5" and it seemed to happen about ten years ago and then no more. (?)

At my 'tallest' i was 5' 4 3/4". Didn't notice change till about 8-20 yrs ago, fractions of an inch per year. 75 yrs old now i am at around 5'3" give or take a fraction, next time a Nurse measures i'll be sure to ask what they get. i have generally had good posture, and apparently whatever havoc gravity is wreaking on my body is pulling my spine straight down, no stooping or hunching unless i'm bending over to pick something up.

At my "peak" I was six-feet + one and a half inches tall. Now, at age 66, I am five-feet + eleven and a quarter inches tall.
But before back surgery in 2017, I was almost 2 inches shorter than I am now.
