This is my first post after reading the forums for a few days. I hope to catch up with you all and make new friends

:welcome: Toots, as you can see, we are a very diverse group, with lots of opinions, so jump right in. We are also very curious, so tell us a little about yourself. I'm Ina from Texas. If you have questions, just ask, someone (many) will have an opinion on that too. :giggle:

Hello Toots, happy you're with us!

By gum! What a friendly bunch. There's not much to tell about me really. I live in Herefordshire (where the Hereford cows come from also famous for cider & the Mappa Mundi ) I am 64, married for 39 years, no children. We had a little girl but she passed away. We are both retired. I enjoy hill walking, but the old knees are playing up a bit now, needlepoint, knitting, socks and aran are my favourites. Crochet and a little waterclouring. I write, mainly comedy, and have been fortunate; nay blinking lucky, to have had a fair bit published. And also, like most ladies, I am permanently on a diet with varying degrees of success. We both enjoy watching rugby tennis and athletics but can't get into soccer or golf.
Daft things happen to me and it isn't always my fault... honestly. This happened yesterday:
We went to a car boot sale. They are a bit like garage sales but held in one location. You take your car and a table, set up and the buyers come. You pay, as a seller, about ÂŁ5, and buyers usually have free entry. This car boot was held in 2 large fields and there were hundreds of sellers. It was a very hot day, and crowded. I stopped to look at some paper back books and my husband walked on. I caught up with him, slipped my hand into his and said 'Lets go and find us a cup of tea somewhere quiet' A perfect stranger looked back at me and said 'Well, we haven't been introduced madam. But if you are paying, I'm up for it' He obviously shopped for his shirt and shorts at George at ASDA the same as my husband did! :highly_amused:

How do you feel about the King? I always withhold my welcome until this question is answered...

Now toots, that is funny. And, what the heck is Mappa Mundi?
i could google it but would rather you told me. Pappy

The Mappa Mundi is 'said' to be the oldest medieval map in the world Pappy. It has hung on the wall in our cathedral for centuries. It was in a dark corner and to be honest, nobody took much notice of it. THEN the cathedral was short of money so threatened to sell it. hell and all its family were let lose. Donations came in from all over the world and the outcome was, that the map was saved, a new complex built to keep it, the Queen opened it and it is one of our biggest tourist attractions

Do you mean Elvis? I was a fan. Not the biggest fan in the world but I liked his voice. An old friend of mine is a HUGE Elvis fan. When I was in the US I went to Gracelands and picked up some fallen leaves which were on the path. I gave them to her, and if they had been diamonds she couldn't have been happier. By the way, her doorbell plays Love me Tender when you ring it.
