Hello all! We were previously in Northern Virginia and retired to Florida earlier this year. I love not having to work and being able to take naps when I want!

Hi, Cassie;

Enjoy your retirement in Florida. I hope you like the Farmer's Marts and the Flea Markets.
There's so much GOOD junk out there, and at bargain prices!!!

For the first time in 16 years, I shall not be doing my Snowbird wintering there. Oh, how I shall miss it.

Welcome to the site.

Tony.

Lol, the only trouble is sometimes a late nap means not being able to sleep some nights, but it is worth it.

And yes Tony, I do love the flea markets and estate sales here.

We lived in Florida for many years. A special time in our lives. The only thing I don't miss are the fire ants and Palmetto bugs...nasty beasts, try to smash them and they fight back.

Fur,

Luckily I've been here six months and haven't run into either of those. Not looking forward to it. But I have seen the love bugs. They're here now.

Oh yes the Love Bugs...who can forget? They do make screens for the grill of your car, otherwise you have a mess. I remember picking up mail and there would be little gecko fingers sticking out of the mailbox, I guess they were seeking shade, cute little things.

Fire ants..!!! I was working on the lawn, and I put my hand straight into a group of fire ants. The pain was unbelievable! I scrubbed my hand in soap and water almost immediately, but all of the bites still came up as infected spots - almost like mini boils.
Some of the native-Americans apparently used fire ants as a torturing method - now how evil was that?

Palmetto's - by brother-in-law has them quite often in his place, but I've never seen one in ours. Mind you, that's probably because the have the Bug Man squirting stuff around four times a year. Worth every penny.

:p
