Hello from Central New York State

Nice to see another New Yorker-I am from the Southern Tier of NY, (Finger Lakes) ,in a farm community and it was feeling 103 degrees ( the heat indices) here, when thermometer hit 95 yesterday.

We have had some intense thunderstorms too and I shut down PC when they are expected.

I just got my garbage and recycles out, for a rural garbage company and so far it is only 72 in the shade.(8:30 am)

I just have been picking the most important things I have to do each day, and if they are outside jobs, I do them as early as I can.

I am glad I have a crock pot, and don't have to use the oven. I have central air conditioning but still seniors have to be very careful in these high temps.
Hello neighbor :) The heat wave is supposed to end sometime around Sunday and I hope that forecast remains accurate. Staying cool inside is the best option for now. I have no central air in this little pre-1900 house but it's been renovated well enough so that the downstairs is easy to heat and cool. I installed an a/c unit in a livingroom window yesterday :) It always amazes me that I don't drop it out the window and onto the ground during my balancing act.

I hire a neighbor to mow my lawn nowadays but there's still plenty for me to do (or not do) out in the yard. My only flower bed, with a view from my kitchen window, is currently weeds and a few hardy flowers--I must fix that! I planted Morning Glory seeds a couple of weeks ago and love watching them grow like crazy over an arbor. I also enjoy watching a small patch of bee balm grow and bloom and seeing the hummingbirds it attracts. Keepin' it simple here in the middle of rural bliss. :)

Welcome Barbara,, from NW PA.
Always wanted to visit your area.
Thank you for your welcome. I hope you're still able to visit the Finger Lakes one of these days.

I've seen a bit of northern PA along Route 6 . . . beautiful country. I took a few wild road trips with my sister who has a passion for antique shops. I wanted to see the F.W. Knox "Old Hickory" villa in Coudersport after following its neverending renovation on Facebook. After visiting Coudersport, we took a random highway south off Route 6 and found ourselves in a tiny town called Germania where 4-wheelers gathered in masses in the center of town. After that adventure, I thought that I'd love to travel Route 6 on a motorcycle. I've got an MC license but currently don't own a bike. The desire to purchase another one is strong this time of year but I can usually talk myself out of it for all sorts of reasons!

@barbarak333 Route 6 is lovely road to travel & site see.
Reminds me that hubby & I haven't been on that road since the trip to Maine.

We got separated from our son,,never did catch up to him.
He was driving a truck & trailer with ATVs.
We were in our motor home following him we took a wrong turn & lost him.

Long story but we reached the PA line late.
Hubby asked which way?

After bit of thought I told him to go a town and take rt 6.
It was a long drive & did stop & take a short nap.

I usually start a trip by trying to follow Google Maps "shortest route" and wind up on every back road between my home and my destination. A co-worker said "you know you can modify Google Maps preferences and avoid secondary roads, right?" Nope. Next time I'll try that :)

Welcome to you from NC. Currently traveling thru your area camping.
Hello and thank you for your welcome message. I hope you're enjoying your visit to Finger Lakes and finding ways to stay cool. Typically, June can be a chilly and rainy month here, but not this week. Which lakes are you camping near? Have you visited Taughannock Falls?

My adopted RedBone Coonhound mix is a transplant from NC. The humane society in my county has a partnership with shelters in NC. My sweet Belle (shelter name Bluebell) spent some time at Rusty's Legacy in Marion, NC and also at the McDowell County Animal Shelter.

We are having a blast, and yes its been a bit warm. Had been at Letchworth gorge several days. We are currently on Lake Onterio, hit Fort Niagra and falls yesterday, have the power plant and Erie Canal on the agenda for today. Tomorrow we are heading to Rome for a few days then on to family's in the Adirondacks and Catskills. This is part of a 3 1/2 week trip, visiting family at 5 different places.
Small world... your dog came from near by us, Wife worked in Marion for Mcdowell county for years.
Taughannock Falls, We just may need to add that as a stop.

I'm glad to hear you're having a blast. I love all the places you mention :) Another favorite for me is Boldt Castle in The Thousand Islands.

Thank you for your welcome. My coonhound's name is Belle and your photo looks very much like her. Thank you for sharing it with me. I adopted Belle a year ago and we've come a long way. I'll always require more training. :)

Not sure you will be able to view Belle's Pet of the Week debut but I'll send it anyway :) I found the video after I adopted her. :)

Thanks for the welcome, Sue. I am enjoying myself. As I wander through the many topics of conversation, I feel like I'm in good company.
