Hey everyone,
I am new to this forum, but not a senior yet. Being upfront, I own an insurance brokerage. Wait, wait...don't worry; I am not here to "prospect" on the forum, but here to provide answers. I hope to also gain a better understanding on how seniors search online (thru questions they might have here in threads/posts) and concerns they have with my particular niche of insurance. This helps me write content for my agency's website. More valuable content on my website helps seniors find my agency online. I hope that sounds fair!
Thanks
Rusty

We don't know what niche of insurance you represent. I just put in a search argument that's appropriate to the subject matter and see what I get, just like other ages do. If one doesn't work I try something else.

THanks Phoenix,
I guess I meant to say I wanted to learn how people might search or how they would ask questions. For businesses, ranking in Google is a combination of many factors, but understanding how someone might ask the question is important also.

I read on a thread that someone asked if medicare supplements and medigap plans are the same thing. That's an example of questions I am curious about (how the questions is phrased). I would use something like that to create an article (content) on my site about that question/answer, so that if someone went to Google and typed that question in, they might find my article. If they found it informative, they might reach out to my agency and become a client. So there might be questions that someone who is 65, 70, 75 might phrase in such a way that I had never thought of. Those help me. I hope to learn those, but also give my unbiased advice on questioned asked here.

I am in the Medicare supplement insurance niche.
Thanks again
Rusty

When my husband and I were ready to sign up for Medicare and went looking for supplemental insurance, we started on the Medicare site and looked up the insurance listed there. We read over the site thoroughly. Then we did a search on the insurance companies that seemed best to us. I did end up on some sites of insurance agents, but the thought was that they were going to bug me, and I didn't want to give our my private information to them. Most people I know consider insurance agents sales people, and they don't trust sales people. We sorted through all the data and settled on State Mutual, the top plan and for drug coverage, Humana with minimum coverage. The decisions have been good ones. As far as what questions to make sure you cover, I can't really give you a very good idea of exact wording. We wanted to know what we needed to have, what would be nice to have, and what the cost of the plans were, how reliable the company was etc. Another thing we wanted to know was how much the cost of the coverage was likely to go up as we aged. When I was handling things for my elderly mom, I learned they go up every year.

Thanks Phoenix,
Unfortunately, most sales people can be pushy...What you really have to be careful for on the internet is putting your information out there on some of these sites. Many of these sites are call "lead aggregators" in the insurance business. THey look like agencies with smiling faces and promise you quotes by email or phone. What they do is take the info you submit (expecting to get quotes) and sell it to 8-10 agents, who will blow up your phone/email. Then 30-90 days later they sell it again to another bunch as "aged leads." Some even sell it to other companies who sell it to their list of agents. Very frustrating.

I take the cotton ball approach. Educate you on your options, review the carriers, talk about experience with those carriers, then finally cover what to expect moving forward. Most of my clients are from referrals, but you always look for more clients (expand your reach). I hope to show everyone here that I provide valuable info for them and if they want to use my agency, great. If not, that's okay too. We can part as friends.

Thanks for responding to my first post!
Rusty

I would say that 99 percent of the baby boomer generation knows the stuff you just related - don't trust anyone. We are the generation that had bumper stickers that read, "Question Authority."

What bugs me most about the things that I get as spam now are ones that want me to do things to various parts of their anatomy, with a part of my anatomy that I don't actually possess. I report all of them to spamcop. Then there are those who send me an invoice for things I never ordered and want me to click on an attachment. I'm not that stupid.

I answered because I figured no one else was going to reply to you. I replied out of compassion. :)

Welcome Rusty..

I have a question...I am very unhappy with United Health Care for drug coverage. I will be searching for another coverage before the next open enrollment.

Any suggestions ??
