I lost my husband last fall to COVID-19. I stayed with friends for a while because they were very worried about me. I miss my beloved Harold. I have a lady friend in KS that has asked me to move there with her so we can look after each other but, I simply don't know if that's what I want to do at this point.

I have an old stray cat to keep me company and I read and watch television and sometimes on Friday nights I go play bingo with some friends. Harold worked for the post office most of his life. He was a good man and provided me with a good home & was a kind and loving man.

My friends suggested I look into some sort of internet chat site to maybe keep me company when things get to be too much. Hopefully I can fit in alright.

Hi Alice, nice to meet you. I am also a widow. My husband was also employed by the United States Postal Service. He passed of cancer 11 years ago. You are still a very new widow. If you are able to stay in your own home at this point that is what you should do. Do not make any major decisions until you have to. Do not let your grief to guide you in the wrong direction. It takes a while to recover, deal with your loss. I am not talking months, I am talking years. It you can stay where you are, without problems physically and financially, that is the best thing.

The best thing is to allow yourself to heal from the great loss you have suffered. Tell people that you need time, you will not be able to make any decisions any time soon.

I am so sorry for your loss! I would say I understand, but in truth no one understands. Your relationship with your husband was yours alone.

Welcome to the boards!
I used to be able to say 'welcome from Nebraska' but last month I sold my house in Valley, NE and am now a bit of a nomad traveling around the US (so far just to Chicago). I love your town of Lincoln.

Hello. I am so very very sorry for your loss.

I think internet chat sites like this one, can help a bit.

But, personally, I highly recommend that you focus on connecting with real people, that you have known for years, and in the real world.

You might want to try Zoom calls with some relatives. That is nice. You can hear them and talk, but also see them as well.
