Hello from New England

Winter's coming and I'm looking for ways to socialize without having to go out in the cold, snow, sleet, wind and all the other joys that winter brings. I've been reading some of the posts, and it seems like people here are friendly and welcoming.

I'm 74 (OMG how did that happen?), widowed, and very fortunate that I live in a small building with amazing neighbors. Most of us have been here for at least 10 years (24 years for me). We call the building our "family compound". I live with a cat named Sally and a fish named Jack.

I look forward to meeting new people on the forum.!

Hey Eileen ( my -s-i-l has the same name)... :D A Cat named Sally and a fish named Jack ?.. it sounds like the title of a Movie.. :D

Welcome, Eileen! Since you've been reading the posts here, I hope you feel comfortable posting your thoughts :)

Do you live in the U.S.? As you can see, we've got international members, which I think is great!

Hi Eileen, Welcome from your neighbor in Maine. We've been here 4 years now and I've found several needlework and knitting groups that meet weekly. We generally don't meet if the weather is really bad but we've found it does us all good to make our way out whenever we can and encourage each other. The last couple of winters haven't been too bad - depends on what day of the week but I've discovered they're all a hearty breed! The embroidery group has a Zoom component along with the in-person meets.

I recently read an article about a woman coping with winter in Denmark - where the days are much shorter. There might be some helpful hints here: https://getpocket.com/explore/item/...-dark-days-of-winter?utm_source=pocket-newtab

Stay in touch here - there is always lots to talk about! :D

Yes, I live just outside of Boston, MA and yes, I agree that having members from other countries is a definite bonis - lots of different experiences and perspectives to share.
