Hello from North Carolina

I am a Hearing Aid Specialist in North Carolina. I'm 60 and in those years when I'm looking forward to retirement. I'm trying to figure out how to make the most of my senior years. My husband and I find we have different ideas about that!
 

Welcome hearlady! You've asked a BIG question and as I suspect, you already know there is not a LITTLE answer. Good luck - maybe getting some counseling would be wise.

As far as retirement goes, doing whatever each sees fit is the beauty of retirement and the differences are what makes us all interesting and unique. Some need a rest and have earned it. Some see fun opportunities they can't wait to jump into and they have earned that choice. Some need a rest for a year or two before they feel re-energized to "jump into activities". That's where the joy lies in retirement...do whatever you want, whenever you want. Respect the differences or share it together if you want, or do your own thing as long as you end up happy together when the day is done.

North Carolina is a great state. I grew up in a small town in Virginia 7 miles from NC. On a clear day I could climb a mountain only a half mile from my house and see Pilot Mt. There was a gang of kids on my street and that was a thing we would do for fun, just to pass the time.

I went to Ridgecrest, NC to Baptist retreats when I was young and loved the country around there. That's why, when I looked at colleges I could afford and work part time, I chose Mars Hill Jr. college and graduated from there. I considered going into the ministry, but later fell by the wayside and majored in math.

My daughters both graduated from East Carolina with degrees in music and so I sent my money there for six years.

One daughter lives and works in Greensboro (at UNCG), so I'm down there all the time. (In fact I'll be there tonight for a concert that she is in)

So, its great to have you here, and we look forward to finding out more about North Carolina, the Tar Hill state.
