I'm 74 and live west of Cody, Wyoming, about thirty miles from Yellowstone National Park. This is great country; I'm happy to live here. I found this website as a result of seeing a post on another forum which suggested it as a "refreshing break." I've completed the "Do You Own A Swiss Army Knife?" thread and the "Country Images You Don't See Much Anymore" thread.

These were fascinating with not a whiff of nastiness. Too many fora are filled with angry and bitter people of all ages. This is refreshing. I hope to spend some time here and contribute to the discussions.

I enjoy reading about, and sometimes reliving the past. My parents were both born in 1903 so I heard plenty of tales of the war years (both wars) as well as Prohibition. I saw my maternal grandmother frequently. She was born in 1872 so she had more fascinating tales—better than my parents'.

I have an old dog and an old cat. My wife died twelve years ago after forty-two wonderful years. I seem to keep chugging along.

I often enjoy uſing the long s in my poſts. I hope that won't diſturb anyone.

Hi BigHorn, we honeymooned at Yellowstone over 41 years ago, beautiful country there!

We've been to Yellowstone 3 or 4 times....Beautiful country in that corner of Wyoming. One thing about living that close to Yellowstone....if/when it blows, you won't have time to panic...it'll be over quickly. The rest of us will suffer badly.

Thanks for the welcome.

Vulcanologists can predict volcanic eruptions weeks, months, or years before they occur. The debris from the last one landed as far away as Iowa. That happened about 650,000 years ago. It's not high on my list of worries. I'm far more concerned that my local Walmart may drop another product that I like. I couldn't get Bay's English Muffins for six months there last year. Walmart's only competitor here, Albertson's, has far higher prices.

Welcome from New Jersey. We visited your part of the country a few years back. That was the first time I saw Bison in the wild and some up close along the road. I'll never forget it.
