Hello,
I've only just joined so introducing myself.

I am 61 years old and live on the border of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire in a lovey town called Market Harborough. I only moved here 17 months ago so its all new to me but I really like it here. I live in a small bungalow with a small garden buts its fine as there's only me.

I have two grown up children who treat me as if I am the child now but I suppose being a man I still am really, 61 going on 16.

I am interested in anything really but don't have hobbies as such. I do get lonely sometimes as during the last three years I have become a bit isolated but that was my choice at the time.
I am changing my life around so this is a step in making contact again with humans.
Is there anybody there?

I may get a dog this year as I've always had dogs and it would be company. Of course there is the problem of the smell of wet fur and shedding hair everywhere but the dog will have to get used to it. Plus, I've got a budgie called Trance that was dumped on me but he's useless at burying bones in the garden. 😀

Hi Falcon, haunted texan and jujube.
Thank you for the welcome.

Bocking is about 100 miles from me but then nothing is very far away in the UK. Its only about 90 minutes drive. I drove to Harlow in Essex many years ago just to meet a woman I had met online and stayed the overnight in a local hotel as I took her out for a meal.

Welcome from a fellow Brit living way up north in Carlisle.

I retired at 60 and acquired two border terriers just before I did, specifically to keep me busy. They have with no exaggeration, saved my sanity I think! Highly recommended for company, walks to plan your day around and also exercise!

Hi Pam and Wintermint.

I've been to Carlisle. I seem to remember a very big hotel near a railway station or maybe mind playing tricks.
Yes I thought a dog would be a good idea to help me keep my sanity plus I have a lovely park about 100 yards away and a short drive to the Grand Union Canal with Foxton locks and the towpaths.

Hi Bee.
Thank you for the welcome.
I don't really know Essex as such, only Harlow when I went to meet up with what turned out to be a very nice woman, we talked and talked. We had met online on a friendship site and she asked me to come and meet her. We met in a local pub she knew that had a premier lodge attached as I didn't fancy driving home. I think something more could of come of it but she had complications that made it impossible.
As I said I'm new to the site and I suppose it will take time to find my way around but I hope to make some good friends here. I lost touch with the world for a while but have decided to come out from my shell. I hope I'm in the right place.

Welcome, I'm a newbie, too. According to an old poem, Monday's Child is fair of face. Wonderful! The world always needs more pretty people. I, on the other hand, was a Saturday' Child and we were doomed to work hard for a living. Mom should have held on for a few more hours. Sunday's Child got bunches of goodies.

Hi Trade & Ken N TeX and helenbacque.

Some days I feel like I'm 102 years old but in my head I'm young. The body let's me down and as for being fair of face, I wish.
When I was under 18 and had problems being served in pubs as I looked so young, my mum said, Don't worry you will be glad when your old as you won't look as old as you are. She lied. 😀
