Hello this is my first post on SeniorForums. I live in Montreal and I'm officially semi-retired. I have a bachelor of computer science and 15+ years of I.T. experience in a variety of roles. I've been out of work since 2015. I went back to school in 2017 but it did not lead to a job as hoped. So what started as a joke in school, "Freedom 48", actually happened. I'd like to keep working in my field, but if no one wants to hire me and treat me with equality and respect, then why push it.
I keep myself occupied by volunteering at my church. (Don't worry I'm not on the God Squad.) I lead a social group of mostly senior citizens -- I am one of the youngest in the group. We meet every Thursday for an activity and lunch. I am also slowly working on fixing up my house, one room at a time -- the Excuse for Everything sidelined some projects which I want to revive.
I don't think of myself as a senior. My knees might beg to differ. I'm in that odd space: too young to retire "properly", too old to be taken seriously in an interview. Sometimes I prefer to act my shoe size instead of my age -- it can be more fun that way.
