I live in the Northeast part of the USA. It's wintery and very cold, and somewhat snowy, here during this part of the year.

I am. When younger I loved the outdoor activities during the cold season, but now I stay indoors, and enjoy seeing the snowy scenes out my window.

It’s nice that you can stay warm inside and enjoy the view. I also lived in two very cold places …. Scotland and Moscow brrrrrr

No my parents were none of those things. They were university professors and I grew up Away from them since a young age. Yes certainly seeing the world gives a very different perspective than being in one place but neither one is better than the other. They are just different experiences.
Your home/wife’s studio sounds like a cool place
I’ve kinda retired myself unofficially. After years of single parenting and stress, time to take it easy …. Are you retired ?

Yes I’m retired and still love it though the pandemic has diminished the luster. My wife is ten years older and beset with serious medical conditions that diminish her chances of surviving Covid. So our lockdown seems unlikely ever to end. But she has her art work and I’ve got my garden and books and we both have walks with the dogs so we’re not quite shut- ins.

Parenting is a huge job, isn’t it? Maybe you can retire from that job too before too long. I know some are reluctant for it to end but we took to empty nesting like fish to water.
