I have a 2000 Subaru Legacy L Wagon since it was new and plan to drive it the rest of my days. In a month or so, I'm moving to a larger city I know very little about and want to make finding places easier until I learn the area better. My Samsung phone, using Google Maps, is too small for me to be glancing at while driving. I've thought of using a 10" tablet instead, but wondering if there are better options out there. Thanks for any advice.

You need to enable voice navigation in Google Maps, that way you can hear the very precise directions rather than having to glance at the phone. Fix voice navigation problems - Android - Google Maps Help

google maps is the best in my opinion. very precise turn-by-turn directions.
if u use a 10" tablet, what would hold it in place. if it falls on the floor, that would be distracting.

I also have no in-car sat nav,,,so on the odd occasion I need direction I use Waze Driving directions, live traffic & road conditions updates - Waze

... I find it so much better than google maps..because it tells you what obstructions are ahead, and what to watch out for... however I never look at the phone..I just listen to it... easier to just hear it say turn right in 200 yards .. than to try and look at it...to see where you have to turn right

Over the years before I started buying cars with built in GPS, I just bought one of those that sat on the dash and plugged into a cigarette lighter. I thought they were easy to use, and back then they cost about $100. I have used my iPhone, but it was too distracting for my tastes, while holding it and taking my eyes off the road. But they are very popular.
