Help me decide about keeping land line phone or not

Y'all must have large houses!
I can put my cell in the middle of my house and answer in just a few rings, no matter where in the house I am.

I don't need the landline handsets I had in the old three story abode anymore. Which is good, as I am not even wired for a landline.

And, if push comes to shove, I can answer the call with my watch (don't like that though).

@Flarbalard ... Some cell phones require changes in settings to accurately dial 911 calls. Check your phones owner/user manual about emergency calls.

Keep in mind too, even phones that have not been initialized for service on a cell network and have not been assigned a number can call 911. As long as a phone can be powered up and can locate a network, it can connect to 911 services. That's all it can do is dial emergency services if there is no cell contract otherwise on the phone.

So maybe an old cell phone left at home might be ideal for a dedicated emergency call phone, but couldn't be used for anything else. Many nonprofit organizations collect old cell phones, refurbish them and distribute them to those who just need a phone for emergencies. Most of these phones are distributed at no cost. A search on the phrase "free 911 phones" or "911 phones" will yield a list of groups who collect and distribute old cell phones for 911 use.
I wasn't thinking of necessarily a 911 style emergency, but you made good points. Thank you. The smart phone is all set up for quick emergency calling as well. I'll check out the flip and see.

If worse comes to worse some smoke grenades would be handy, at least somebody would come by and see what was making all that goofy colored smoke.

I have a very small two bedroom house but size isn't the point for me.
I just like and prefer to answer the phone with a handset or one of my wireless landline phones.
Maybe just a matter of what I'm used to. Dunno.
Had landline phones for many decades and a smart phone for only the last 4yrs.
Another thing is the landline phones are simpler to use. They do one thing and do it well.
