Help, Neighbor With New Pool and Lots of Noisy Kids!!!!

We've had an in-ground pool since 1996, and had a giant trampoline when the kids were in junior high as well. Since every "bordering" neighbor also has a pool, we've never noticed the noise. I love our pool and use it a lot in the summer, but I don't do a lot of screaming out there. :D

The biggest noise aggravation around here is 4-wheelers and motorcycles. We live on a cul-de-sac on the river that backs up to a wooded area, so those annoying things are constantly buzzing up and down the street when school is out. Also the boating traffic picks up on the river this time of year, so the roaring of motor boats and noisy partying drunks picks up a bit. Hmmm. I guess our 'hood is noisier than I thought.

You didn't mention if you had a pool. Hmmm. At least 12 girls. Where there's girls, there's boys. Where there's boys, there's food. So next door, you have a nightly pool party, with food, and you don't have to clean up. And your problem is...........

I hope I never get so old that I am annoyed by happy noises.

We're blessed to live in a neighborhood with plenty of kids. We enjoy their laughter, the low rumble of trikes, scooters, bikes, skates, and skateboards on the sidewalks as they learn to balance and do tricks, watch their skills improve as they practice catch with baseballs and mitts, and laugh along with their raucous fun. And yes we find their shrieking laughter infectious as they splash each other in backyard pools. I remember my own children doing all these things and wonder at where the time went.

My sincere advice is that you choose to embrace these moments. Those kids will be grown and gone before you know it, and silence will replace the music of their joy.

I know exactly how you feel Floridatennisplayer. I have the same problem here. I mentioned this in another post as well. I get all settled on my porch with a good book and the radio starts blaring and the kids are screaming at the top of their lungs in the pool next door. Once I went over and asked them nicely to turn down the music. They looked at me like I was speaking another language. We had an above ground pool for my kids. They were allowed one friend to join them and not every day.. No music and no screeching. They had a good time and I didn't have to drown any of them.

Some of you can relax. I’m not some grumpy guy. I have two wonderful little grandkids that live behind us. I love hearing them. Just saying it’s now going to be noisy at times. Very noisy.

Im out.

I didn't think you were grumpy at all, the noise could be close to being at a public pool or water park, but the good thing is they eventually get bored and go back inside. I had a neighbor a long time ago who had a dog that barked constantly, and for no reason, since he had a doggy door it went on day and night. Now that was really annoying. I love dogs and don't mind them barking, but not all the time every day.
