Help - unmovable constipation?

This is what I use. Very effective.
I use RestoraLAX which is basically the same thing. One of my prescriptions causes constipation so I use this preventive tactic first. It was recommended by my pharmacist.

OH that feeling...
You know it is there but won't come out.

I saw this tip many years ago and it works for me
Bend and Raise one knee. Hold it up
Inhale for ten
Exhale and while doing so direct it to your nether region pulling in abdominal area and relax slowly in that position
I talk to my bowels telling then to relax and come on out while doing so.
Repeat

Takes a bit of time but it does a great jobLaugh good.gif

p.s I have been doing it while writing...now I have to go...........
Run. copy.jpg

Help - tried the tabs but nothing seems to be working - any well and tested home remedies any can recommend?
Apologies if you are about to eat. A daily intake of fresh fruit beats any medicinal laxatives.

Natural laxatives, like papaya, oranges and plums, are great options that stimulate bowel movements and combat constipation. These fruits are high in fiber and can kick-start your bowel routine and add bulk to your stools. Natural laxatives should also have a high water content, which is essential for relieving constipation.

If you have to take a prescriptive laxative, be sure not to take a sleeping tablet at the same time!

Regular unsalted walnuts. Eat a half cup a day. Also cruciferous veggies like cauliflower , broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage cooked or raw. I like to make a salad with cruciferous veggies and lettuce and tomato and onions.

I gotta tell you I can eat a pound box of prunes and absolutely nothing happens. I have my own routine, one that a doctor would probably say it would kill me but I am still here after a lifetime.

I, too have a stubbourn conspitation.
First, I take 'Lower Stimulater(herbal)' along with Magnesium with a meal, second after a hour or so later, Dulcolax(one cap.), at night, MiraLax, all of three combo. which works well for me.
There is a ' trial and error' to find the right remedy. I almost spent close to $80 from Amazon to finally have found the right remedy.
My GP recommended three time per day of 'MiraLax' which did nothing for me.
Hopefully, you find the right remedy ASAP.

sorry but if ya still following - I have cured the constipation and now appear to be in a reversed process called "fluxus ventris" - hope ya sitting down for dinner ?

What are you eating in the first place? Read up on soluble and insoluble fiber for starters. You are probably clogging up your digestive track with hard to digest foods.

My doctor gave me Polyethylene Glycol 3350 Powder. Why, I don't know. I don't have a problem. Maybe it's for an upcoming procedure.

I battled with constipation my whole life up until the last 10 years. Up to that point I believe I tried every single remedy listed in this thread, some of which did better than others at relieving the immediate issue, but did nothing for solving the overall, lifelong problem.

My diet is excellent overall. I eat many servings of fruits and veggies every day, high fiber foods, salads with a variety of cut up raw vegetables, drink a minimum of 40 ozs water, walk twice a day. None of that was enough to regulate my system, in spite of what my doctor and all the ā€œexpertsā€ said.

These days, and for the last 10 or so years, in addition to my high fiber diet, exercise, hydration and normal vitamin/mineral supplements, I also take a stool softener and an herbal digestive aid (contains a very small amount of cascara along with other herbals) in the morning, and a magnesium citrate supplement and fish oil capsule in the evening.

For the first time in my almost 72 years I am regular on this regimen. It’s still a novelty and I don’t take it for granted!

truly amazing I haven't heard of so many different approaches in my whole elderly existence - the lower bowel movement must be absolutely trembling at the contributions! the causative factors have been staring me in the face - too much of a sedentary life ; not enough non-alcohol fluid intake but I don't do fast foods hardly ever. But it has been a rectally eye-opener - thanks for the journey - I'll keep you posted if I explode at sometime?

My previous GP(retired) told 'Conspitation' affects digestive system when I mentioned not eat well. He recommended 'Senna' which did not work well. The current GP recommended MiraLax(safe for elderly) which did not help either.
Afterwards, I purchased 'Vital LAX(herb)' from Amazon and immediately I got an relief, however this Herb-med is quite a strong to use every single day.
Now, I'm satified with the current, three combo.
Both Gastroentologist and the current GP recommended 'MiraLax', but not for me.
It appears that one works well to others, but not always. For me, the remedy of conspitation is an individual basis, person to person which is so difficult to find the right remedy.
