Now days is there a suitable replacement for an old fashioned, three way light bulb?

The ideal solution would be to replace the 3 way socket with an on and off socket, in the lamp. If you put a regular bulb in a three way socket, it will click an extra time, light, and click off. Most of the three way bulbs, I have been buying last awhile, then one of the filaments burn out. Inferior products from a country, whose name begins with a C and ends with an A.....and its not Canada.

Huh?!! Yeah.

I have never heard of a 3-way light bulb and
I was an electrician in the trade from the day
I left college!

I asked Google and have decided that it is a
basic sort of dimmer bulb with only 3 states
dim, medium and bright.

Mike.
