i read about an app called "Be My Eyes" for people who are visually impaired can use if they need someone to help them see something. You be the volunteer. they call and ask you to read expiration dates on products or, read signs or directions for them, find a bench to sit in a park, etc. If they can't reach you, it calls another volunteer. You can see a demo of it on YouTube.

That’s interesting, thanks!

The expiration date thing, fine print, etc… became a real problem for my mother when she developed macular degeneration and will likely become a challenge for me.

I used to rummage through her refrigerator on grocery day and clear out the sketchy items, move others to the front, etc…

This is a very interesting idea. I could imagine that this may lead to friendships or even marriages for some people in the long run.

But the volunteers must be very reliable and be good in describing what they see.
