Once I have my Cochlear Implant in September and four weeks after surgery have the system activated with KANSO it will be the only thing visable, and barely because it will be covered with my hair. The implant itself is embedded in my skull behind my left ear and covered by my skin.
I find the technology amazing.

Sounds very exciting Lon. You are going to have a really good time. Still got you on my prayer list every night. Know all is going to go well for you!

Lon, will you be able to hear more or less normally? I know you mentioned learning to hear with it. How does that work?
Approximately 3 to four weeks after surgery comes the big moment that they call ACTIVATION. This is where the sound processor is turned on and the Audiologist electronically makes adjustments. It takes a number of adjustment over a two to five week period depending on the individual before you can really understand different sounds. I will be listening to Audio Books for hearing practice after Activation.
Frankly, any thing I hear will be a major improvement over what I now don't hear. I will post results as I get them.

FYI----The adustments are called MAPPING

I was a little apprehensive to click on a thread titled "Here Is What I Will Be Wearing & The Only Thing You Will See "

:stop1:

I was relieved that it wasn't an all male peep show....... VP.jpg ......... or the RuPaul Drag Races.

:eeew:

Anyway, I hope that the system works well, and wish you the best of luck.
