Here's Where I Live

I'm about 45 miles east of Lon up near the National Park. I like California and have since I first visited here about 40 years ago. I like most of the people and I like the weather.

As a pilot, flying into LAX is a bear most of the time. SFO is easier and the ATC's are better at their job. LAX is easy to land, but getting a gate once on the ground, forget it. At United, we had our own concourse at LAX, but the ground traffic controllers would run us around the airport until a gate opened. At 10K's, it takes forever to get around that airport.

I remember my very first flight was in the 70's into LAX... I was not aware of the noise abatement policy of cutting the jet engines.. and when the plane went what seemed to me silent.. I thought the engines stopped and I was going to die.. lol!! I looked around.. no one else was panicking so I relaxed.. Then coming back we took off over the ocean with a really STEEP climb and banked around to fly back to Chicago. Or maybe I'm just misremembering.

I lived in California for a year-8-10 lane freeways - on both sides! Beautiful state, great temperatures & climate, but way over crowded.

Granola-It refers to fruits, nuts and flakes. I have heard/seen it used in reference to California many times.

I've been to SF, Sonoma and different areas in and around LA. The state is just beautiful. I've seen pics of Palos Verdes where Falcon is and its breathtaking. I think every state has its beauty and advantages.

I am a 4th generation Californian.....grew up in Bakersfield and had enough sense to move to the beautiful central coast. (San Luis Obispo county).
Love the weather here and being able to view the strawberry fields and fields and fields of vegetables. Nipomo Mesa area.
I have been here for 53 years and plan on staying until it is time for the pine box.
