He's been stung 1,000 times -- for science

Justin Schmidt is in the business of pain.

The entomologist and chemist gets stung by insects to understand the pain they produce, why they produce it and how they produce it. It's all in the name of science.

"I've been called many things over my lifetime, but I think some of my favorites are 'King of Sting,' and 'The Connoisseur of Pain,'" Schmidt says. He's definitely put in the work to deserve both those titles.

Well, since he's not intentionally getting stung, he's not crazy - just devoted.
Much like this guy (who did intentionally inject more & more concentrated doses of deadly snake venom so he could survive "Research Accidents." In fact, he developed so much immunity that ant-venom has been processed from his blood & injected into others to save lives:

Since we moved to the forest, about 18 years ago, I've become resigned to getting "stung". I don't keep count, but every year I get nailed several times. The worst one was a few years ago when I ran over a nest of yellow jackets with my tractor, and they swarmed on me....I barely made it back to the house. Now, when I go into the woods I carry an Epipen. If getting bit helps the immune system, I'm probably in good shape.

Could be. The guy I posted about above lived 101 years. With venom from 172 snake bites.
