I go to a new gp now. The first visit was great. He suggested new ideas for addressing my back pain. Not only that but he was very empathic (empathetic?)
Lots of smiles and eye contact.
Second visit yesterday the opposite.
Sits at his desk reading reports on my ct scans. To be fair there was a lot to read. But the silence was deafening. Almost no eye contact. I tried to initiate conversation but felt i was interrupting him.
Makes me wonder whether he is annoyed I am a low income patient so he agreed to waive extra charges for normal visit. He cant make as much money out of patients like me. If I paid the full amount would I have got more eye contact?
By the way, this is not life threatening. Im just making conversation. 😂

I hope he gave you the information you needed to know and your treatment options if needed.
he started me on nerve pain medication. and sends me for an injection in my S1 joint in lumbar spine. im hopeful.😀

I've had that injection...it hurts after the anaesthetic wears off, which can take you by surprise, I wasn't expecting Post Op Pain the first time although the surgeon had warned me, I had dismissed it in my mind..and the post op pain can last for a week or 2...but after that, you should feel much better, at least for a while. My first one gave me pain relief for 3 years..the second time..just 18 months and the 3rd time didn't work at all ( apparently that's common when it gets to the 3rd or 4th time)

Good luck I hope you get some big pain relief for as long as possible!!

thanks holly. your level of empathy has been noted and I have to put you on my list of favourite top 100 posters on here now !!
thanks again.
