Hey, how's it going today for you? It's 2023. An alternate thread for different people.

I'm overtired and a little stressed feeling, this morning, but trying to stay caaaaaaaaaaaaalm........:giggle:

I will go for an early nap, today. At least I will rest, when I do that. I warm my heat pad, and wrap myself with my blankets, call my cat to invite her, tuck myself in, perhaps even add my eye mask, and let my neck and head fully rest on my pillow. I will think peaceful thoughts, and who knows.

Sounds like the early nap is just what the doctor ordered. Your description made your nap sound so good. I took a good nap this evening and didn't even care that the neighbors kid was going wild running around making a racket. I just closed my eyes again and went back to sleep. I felt so rested after that long nap.

I'm a firm believer in the power of naps! They can feel so rejuvenating! Did you feel any better after your nap @Kaila ?

It is a pretty day so I am doing some outside chores and will probably tangle with my ironing this afternoon. Not very exciting, but often excitement is overrated.
Do you like ironing @Pecos Ironing is something I mostly don't do anymore. I do have a nice iron and ironing board but can't even remember the last time I did that 😂

Yesterday I slept a lot and now am doing laundry. Half the washing machines here are broke down. I'm going to have to call maintenance about that. I can use one in the building next door, that is if it's not in use. I'm going to make a beef soup later-I have onions, carrots, celery and turnips to add to it. Should be good.

We got snow yesterday and today. Doesn't seem like a whole lot but enough for now. It's awfully pretty though!

Today I’m either cleaning a closet or a pantry shelf. I haven’t started yet but hopefully I will. 🙃

It’s snowing again so I probably won’t go out. ❄️❄️

I’ve been doing some research into senior living. It’s been a real eye opener so far. So many possibilities, limitations and decisions. 😵

I agree, that at this point in my life too, excitement can truly be overrated! o_O:giggle:

But Pecos, please take care not to get tangled with that laundry!:eek:

It might be too exciting, to need to call for others to help un-tangle you from it!;):):D

Some people have right idea! :) .. this is going on today - right now

I'm all for joining in with this activity..... especially if it is held, indoors! :giggle:😁🤣☺️🥰

I started ironing my own clothes around 10 or 11 and it is one of those slightly "mind numbing" things that we humans get saddled with in modern life. I do enjoy it a lot more than dragging a vacuum cleaner around during weekly cleaning day. I am pretty good at ironing, and I pay as much attention to the irons and ironing boards that I buy as I do to my good hand tools. Right now, I have a great Rowenta which I really like. Being able to iron has paid off for me over the years. When I was a young sailor, I always took an iron aboard ship with me and picked up a little coin by ironing clothes of sailors whose mothers never forced them to learn.

But the guys who really made money from their "part time gig" were the ones who knew how to sew and brought their portable machines with them. LOL, they packed away some very serious coin during our long deployments.

I did feel less awful, after that one, yesterday. Which is helpful enough for it to have been worthwhile!
Thank you for asking me.

Some days, I awake feeling just as poorly as beforehand, but I still believe I'd have felt even worse an hour later, if I hadn't taken the rest or sleep nap.

And many days, I often do feel better, after a nap.
I consider them very crucial and appreciated, on those days!

Is that too many details on the topic of naps? (Or on the topic, of my naps? ;)😄☺️

No that's not too many details, I enjoy reading all you write. I'm glad the nap helped. I hope your day will be a good one and you'll feel much better!

Sound like those sailors know how to make money! Personally, I'd rather vacuum for an hour than iron. I know how to do it but to me it's a royal pain....lol

That's important to get those labs done. They can tell a lot from them! Good luck and I hope they turn out good!
Absolutely those tests can reveal things while you have time to do something about it!

I would not be alive today if the fact that I had an aggressive form of prostate cancer had not been discovered during routine lab work. The idea that PSA screening should be dropped for men over 70 is alarming to me.

What have you learned from your research on senior living?

My goodness, Ruthanne, I have learned so much. First is how much I didn’t know. Second, is how expensive it can be. I sold a big house and bought a small house 10 years ago and my plan has been to age in place here. About a year ago I fell, broke a hip, had surgery, recovered and realized my plan was not complete. So, while aging in place is still my first plan I realized I need a backup. I’ve just begun looking around at Independent Living facilities that have Assisted Living too. I’m not planning an immediate move but I want to have an idea of where I might go if I need to. It makes my head swim.

I had one of those little folding irons in my locker. That, a can of spray starch and a flat table top could set an enterprising swabby up in business. Although in major ports, it was hard to compete with the local laundry walla who picked up your duds on the ship and brought the washed and ironed clothing back the next day all wrapped up in paper with string. I had so many oriental laundry marks cleverly hidden on my whites that they looked like a Chinese newspaper.

That reminds me of a visual image of laundry day aboard ship. The laundry owner/manager would show up to collect the money well fed and in a nice suit while the puny little guy who carried the huge bales of clothing up and down the ladder appeared to be in his 70's, suffering from lack of nourishment, and unsteady on his pins. I never saw one of those guys drop a load though.
