Yesterday, December 27th was the 61st anniversary of the first episode of the Howdy Doody Show. It ran from 1947 until 1960.

Here is some trivia. Howdy had exactly 48 freckles on his face. One for every state of the union (at that time). Buffalo Bob got his nickname because he was from Buffalo, NY.

Clarabelle the clown was once played by Bob Keeshan, who later went on to play Captain Kangaroo.

Buffalo Bob voiced Howdy when he, Bob was off camera Later, Howdy was voiced by Allen Swift.
