Welcome, IdahoGent from an Idaho Transplant ! I grew up in northern Idaho, but did live near Boise for a year or two. I still have family in Idaho, and miss it a lot; but not the cold and the snow. I now live in Alabama, and even though I don't like the dismal winters, and the humid, hot summers; I think that I probably still do better here than trying to shovel snow all winter again.
I have friends who live near Salmon, which is not close to where you are; but not too far either.
