That's Peru, Illinois:)
My bride and I have been friends since 1944, dated in 1953, engaged in 1956, and married in 1958.
we graduated colleges in ME and MA... Then US Army, and a career in retail management for me, and four children for us... Full moves 22 times during working life, then a low cost retirement in 1989...until 2004 (6 mo in the world's largest campground and 6 mo. in a central Florida retirement community)... We now live in regular home in a continuous care retirement community in Peru, and still go to FL for winters.
Reasonably healthy and very happy.
Have been on different forums for about 20 years, and enjoy posting and sharing experiences. Am a bit of a news junkie, enjoy philosophical discussions, computer talk, humor, finances, sailing, biking and have a special affinity for the Adirondacks. Avatar and screen name represent my alter ego.
Biggest problem is probably my wordy posts, and declining short term memory.

Looking forward to getting caught up on the thousands of posts, and meeting the members. Hoping to get a "pass" on early mistakes :tranquillity:while getting acclimated.

Welcome to the oldsters place, Tom. Feel free to join in anywhere; you'll like it here!! :D

Welcome Tom and already you have sent this Girl from Oz to Google trying to make sense of your introduction.
First of all, I was going to ask you to describe life in exotic Peru, thinking you were from Sth America.
Then I had to look for photos of the Adirondacks, and very lovely they look too.
Tom Young was more of a challenge because Google kept assuming I was interested in a rugby player called Tom Youngs but with perseverance I discovered the following

Another Last Man to Know Everything was Thomas Young (1773-1829). He made discoveries in the fields of physiology, optics, musical harmonies, and compared grammar and vocabulary of 400 languages. Young wrote many entries in early editions of the Encyclopædia Britannica. That’s more impressive than A.J. Jacobs, the author and subject of a book called The Know-It-All. He merely read every volume of Encyclopædia Britannica.

Now Tom, I have a lot to do this week, so will you please stop with the challenges to my curiosity until next Sunday.

All of the above is just my way of saying "Very pleased to meet you, Tom", and post away for all you are worth. I'm looking forward to it.

Hi there Tom, and welcome...
