Hi. I was given this link by a member. They said this was good for their mental health

Most likely you should be banned because this is not a Mental asylum.

Crazy is Crazy ..... Just saying
I am sorry that you do not understand people with schizophrenia. I have gone through episodes when I reached my 40's where I believed things that were fantastical, but really, when I am medicated, and through most my life prior to that, I have been a fairly normal person. With some quirks, but I'm hardly the first person to have those. But I appreciate your concern papa tiger :) .

I am a member of a schizophrenia forum as well, and I can tell you that most of them are nice people. Some with strange beliefs, some not so much.

As far as mental asylums go, thats a bit out of date. Most people that live with schizophrenia either live with family or alone from my expericne. Some occasionally have a stay in the hospital when they are episodic, but are usually released when well again.

I think if you get to know me you will realize that I'm generally quite sane. :) I also do not generally have the hallucinations some with schizophrenia have, if that helps.

Welcome from Los Angeles, @Bowens! Well done with your measured response to those unkind, provocative posts.

Looking forward to seeing you around the boards.

This was a gracious response, @Bowens, probably more gracious than I would have been. I admire that.

I've been in a position (e.g., through volunteering, and other means) to get to know both mental health and substance abuse inpatients and outpatients. They have been some of the best people I have ever known. So I was glad to see you reply, kindly, with the facts.

Again, good to see you here. :)

Hi Bowens. I understand schizophrenia more than I wish I did. One step son with it so bad he will spend the rest of his life in a nice village type care facility. Also my ex husband has it and after a lot of years with it advancing, and his taking on other personalities to the point he became someone I didn't know, I had to divorce to protect what little I had left, after he spent thousands claiming he was a wealthy diplomate. He had several girlfriends and used different identities with each.

it sounds like you are doing well and medication is working and you can stay productive. I know a couple of folks that were able to get off meds after a year of clinical hypnosis. It didn't work for my step son since he also had brain damage from drug use.

Welcome to the group and don't let the few that don't understand discourage you. Being fairly new myself, I am just getting to know a few here. I try to stay away from too much medical talk, because I think too much dwelling on it, just leads to slower healing. We are all old, some more than others, so most have medical issues, both physical and mental, so I use humor or taking things on the light side, as a form of healing.

Hi @Deya . I'm sorry that you have had such poor experiences with schizophrenia. Most of the people i know with schizophrenia are on a mental health forum. Some cases there are more severe than others, but most that use it are fairly functional. I sometimes forget how many out there are not so fortunate.

I respond extremely well to medications, some do not, so I am very luck. Thank you for your response.
