Hello to all. I'm Mike. Sitting in my living room in Scotland with 2 chihuahuas on my lap, on the warmest day of the year so far. 71 years old. Still with an alert and agile mind thankfully. Long story short. My ex wife got fed up with her 2nd husband so moved up here to Scotland. Barely a year after she moved, she passed away with the big 'C'. Our children inherited her house. My daughter moved in. So I thought "why not?" And moved up here also. I bought a house in Callander, in the Loch Lomond & Trossachs national park and my daughter moved in with me so that she and her brother could sell their property. I say it's the warmest day of the year but there is still a touch of snow on our local mountain just outside of town.

Hi Mike!

Mike - Aloha from The Big Island of Hawaii. Maybe it's the 2 pups setting on your lap that makes it feel so warm......

Welcome Mike! I live near Dunoon and have been here for 16 years when I came here from the US. It got up to 26C here today! There are 2 others here who live in Scotland.

Welcome from SE US! I once read a wonderful story about golden eagles in Callander.

Hi to all and thank you for your welcomes.

Yes, my daughter swears she has seen a Golden Eagle just outside Callander. They are seen regularly in Strathyre, just a few miles away.

Welcome, Mike, from Toronto. 13C/55F here .. not too bad. It rained a bit yesterday, but the trees and grass and flowers need it. How wonderful you live where you can see Eagles.

Hi. Actually, I haven't seen an eagle yet. But it's definitely on my bucket list. Along with crossing the Forth bridge, and visiting Dunnet head. The most northerly point of the U.K. mainland! I've already done Loch Ness which was also on the list

Welcome from the west of Scotland, Mike. Say hello to Ben Ledi for me and hope that snow does not melt too quickly. :D

Don't worry, there is still some snow at the summit. Last year there was still a trace well into June!

Hi Mike, my dad's family, way back, was from Scotland. There was even a castle. So I've thought of visiting the tumble-down ruins. Not much of a traveler, but it's a nice thought. Welcome.

Come visit! There are plenty of us here now to give you tips and advice. :)

My daughter was married in Doune castle. Unfortunately the marriage didn't last long. So she lives with her dad now.

That was used for one of the series I watch - Outlander - and I think it was used in Monty Python film.

Sorry about the marriage.

I got married on the site of the former Dunoon Castle in a building that looks like a castle.

Yes Doune castle was also used for Game of thrones just before my daughters wedding. In fact because some of the grounds got a bit churned up during filming. Sean Bean who was in the first series sent a magnum of champagne to all of the brides with imminent weddings (my daughter included) as an apology incase it spoiled any of their pictures.
