Hi. I retired in 2014 after nearly 44 years as a Civil Engineer. I have questions from time to time about various retirement related questions and this seems to be where to go to get them answered. Pleased to meet you all.

Thanks for the welcome. I appreciate it. Yes, I love to barbecue. I've got a Weber Virtual Bullet. That makes it easier to manage that low and slow approach.

Don't tell anyone but Connecticut is my favorite state. I've lived in 3 states and have visited 38 states total. My father was born in Sterling and my son has lived in Waterbury, Putnam, Canterbury, and now Moosup. I've visited him and my grandson every weekend for 8 1/2 years in those towns and I love them all. For some reason, Connecticut feels more like home than Rhode Island. I may be moving there next year.
So, RadishRose, where in Connecticut do you call home? I'm only familiar with the eastern half of the state.

I am central, a tiny bit south west of Hartford, but I knew Waterbury very well! You don't want to live there for more reasons than just high taxes. South western CT into Fairfield county is a very lovely area!

Oh, I loved Rhode Island the few times I've been there, such nice beaches! A couple I knew well, (she passed) lived for years at the yacht club in Westerly on their boat, then went to FL in winter having stored the boat. It was a nice life for them.

I remember a nice restaurant there, name started with "O" had grilled shrimps there that I never forgot.

Sorry, I don't know much about the eastern part of CT.

I have to say that Waterbury was my least favorite town in Connecticut, but to be fair, it was the most congested also. What I love about rural Connecticut is that virtually every road could be a scenic highway. All I know about western Connecticut comes from driving back and forth many weekends from here in Coventry to Clifton, New Jersey via Route I 95, and I 384 west to Route I 91 and then south to I 95.

Thank you very much, NancyNGA. One of my most memorable vacations found me on top of Stone Mountain watching test flights of the C5-A cargo plane out of Marietta. Long, long time ago but I remember it as if it were yesterday. Crystal clear blue sky. I could see forever. Loved it.

Hi Wdrbbq....I love BBQ too, my husband uses charcoal for our rib eye steaks, St. Louis ribs, lamb chops, etc.

There's nothing like a grilled rib eye. I love ribs too but my absolute favorite is barbecued pork shoulder. Did a 7-1/2 lb one the other day. It took 11 hours but it was worth it. Good thing I'm retired. Before that it was just one day out of the weekend. Now it can be any day the weather looks tolerable.
Thanks for the welcome SeaBreeze. Nice to meet you.

Thank you. At the moment I'm watching Arsenal play Tottenham in Emirates Stadium. I like both teams. As a newcomer to watching the Premiere League, I'm impressed with how the athletes seem much more down to Earth than our American pro sports stars, who are, for the most part, full of themselves.
Nice to meet you.

Tottenham...are my local football team...I\m not a football supporter but they are the top London league team nearest to where I live in North London... Tottenham and Arsenal ( also a London team) are Auld enemies... and yes I totally agree, our Sports guys although paid astronomical amounts of money tend for the most part to stay very grounded...

Our National Football League is the absolute worst, with constant strutting, posturing, primal screaming, pandering to the crowd and other displays of testosterone overload. They forget the simple fact that true professionals act like professionals in public. They are so full of themselves. It's an embarrassment.

Well, nice to meet you and I'm sure we'll talk again.
