Back from a short holiday in Mainz, Germany where we went to see the annual Johannesfest. Stayed in a really great serviced apartment convenient for the shops, restaurants and the festival site beside the Rhine. The festival celebrates the city's most famous son, Johannes Gutenburg who invented printing using movable type. The festival itself was just like a large open market, with food, drinks, music, arts and crafts etc.. We only bought a few items as most things could be bought at most markets. As the local council had gone all 'green' - and a bit red too, the festival ended with a drone show over the Rhine.
The show was OK. Entertaining and interesting but lacking the excitement of the usual fireworks display and cost twice as much.
I'll sort out a couple of pics.
