Stunning video shows a student challenge a teacher to a fight, approaches and bumps them and tries to bait them. Decades ago behavior would not be tolerated but these types of incidents all too common with seemingly minimal repercussions for the student

If students/kids like this have no respect for teachers/authority how will they ever respect each other. It also show why many kids/teenagers are willing to go to war over the smallest things. The audacity. This is just another confirmation of the violent nature of today's youth.

Even worse the teacher was fired for defending himself against this juvenile delinquent pos.

Wow. Maybe …. I don’t know …. at the end of that report the school said it had investigated and appropriate action was taken. What on earth does that mean? If it means a kid can be physically aggressive, no matter the reason, it’s not a good sign for society.

The kid was awful and deserves some kind of punishment.

However it appears to me the teacher kept the altercation going by throwing his clipboard at the kid. I can appreciate that he was angry, but teachers have, or should have, a responsibility to deescalate things like this. From the video I saw it looks like this teacher didn't. In a normal fight I'd put the blame on the kid, and here he deserves a lot of it. But I think the teacher may have done the wrong thing as well.

This was a substitute teacher, and its not clear to me that he was fired. I do suspect this school won't be using him again soon.

Wow. I remember, even when I was in school, the substitute teachers put up with a lot. I can imagine it is worse now.

The teacher is the adult. He should not have thrown anything at this student. He should have called for help. This student clearly has aggression issues. Wonder what goes on in his household?

And before anyone attacks me about the teacher not physically responding, I was physically assaulted in school. I didn't do anyting. I couldn't. I couldn't even tell my so called parents. They were not safe.

I don’t understand “they were not safe.”

I taught high school for a few years. Scary! Had students threaten to bomb my house, try to keep me from leaving the classroom by holding my arms, make unfriendly sexual overtures, and other things. And then there was the principal who tried to intimidate me by forcing me up against a wall and looming over me. No thanks. Third grade was scary enough, but so much better. And of course, there were no repercussions for the students. Or the principal.

That's a good question, Remy. What kind of people are his parents, and what's the kid's relationship with them? That might answer a question or two.

When I was in my twenties, the son of the man I was working for had studied to be a teacher. He got a job at a local high school, and on his first day, he was walking down the hall when he was confronted by a student who slammed him up against a locker. That was enough for him. He wasn't the type to get into any type of physical altercation. He quit teaching that day and went to work for his father. I don't blame him. It could happen again at any time. Who wants to have to deal with that? The students lost out because he was one of the smartest men I've known and would've made an excellent teacher.

this is happening far too often................. because there is no real punishment for the students ...... maybe kicked out of school but that seldom happens

what do you think happens to these "kids" they grow up with the thought violence is an answer......
these are the same who beat up or assault their managers at work ? road rage perhaps? other insane behavior like losing ones mind in a parking lot etc.................

so uneducated kids ...... with a snap temper .............who will wrack up a few assault charges ..... will never have a type of job that requires a background check and end up either without options or living off parents for ever ......
better have them see the road they are headed down at a young age when they thought fighting with a teacher was cool.

We need to keep in mind that is about 20 years, these "kids" will be running the country. Not all of them are jerks, but we aren't blind either to see on TV how the college generation are trying to control and run things now with the tearing down of statues, burning cities and attacking the police. It would be nice to be around in about 30 years to see how they are running things. I remember reading about the kids in the '70's, a lot of people were saying the same thing about the kids during that time, but back then, the kids weren't as destructive as they are today. Even the kids in the top universities like the Ivy Leaguers act like trash. That's not to say that they all do, but a good many are acting out and when they become real adults, how they will be running the country can only be imagined. I think the worse is yet to come and some of us will be here to see it.
