I just watched this short video about solar roadways (which I have never heard of before), and I think it is a great (and amazing)idea ! !
The basic precept is that they put weight-bearing solar panels on our roads, highways, and driveways. Since they are all space that is not being used for anything else, and have to be maintained anyway; if we use solar panels, then we can also be generating electricity all across the United States, at the same time we are making our roads better and safer.
The solar panels would be able to heat the roads in winter, so they would not need snowplows, or salt on the highways. Cities that only get occasional snow or ice, and have no equipment are virtually shut down in snowstorms, and this would stop the roads from icing up.
If animals are walking across the highway ahead of you at night, sensors would alert you to slow down.
