His and Hers notebooks.

Many a time I rush over the road to visit my friend to tell her some news, but before I can say a word, she starts telling me her news, then when she asks me what my news is, I almost always have to tell her I've completely forgotten it.
Then one day she handed me a little package with a blue notebook in it with a matching biro pen, which I dutifully wrote lots of stuff into, however, sometimes I forgot where I put the notebook.

One day, I went over the road with my little book with lots of news jotted down, and as soon as she opened the door, I blurted it all out before she could get a word in, then, when I shut my gob, she angrily looked at me and said, "I've forgotten what I wanted to tell you now."

Yesterday, I knocked on her door, and when she opened it, I handed her a little package with a pink notebook and matching pen, and said, "I'll have a big pot of tea made at 5pm, jot down all your news and we'll compere notes over a nice cuppa."

5pm arrived and we sat there swigging our tea then I said, "Go on, ladies first", then I spent 35 minutes listening to her news, then she spent 5 minutes listening to mine. 😊

I wonder how many members now use little books? 😊

I don't now, but I used to have an assortment of pretty little notebooks scattered around the place. One or two in my purse, a couple near the computer, etc, etc, etc ...

Still do have one in my purse. It comes in handy.

I think your idea of notebooks for yourself and your lady friend, is brilliant!

I don't use a notebook but when I have not seen my daughter in several days, I will jot down a few things I want to remember to discuss with her. Like Pinky, I keep little note pads in a few places. At the computer, bedside, and where I eat breakfast. Sometimes I will write down a book title I hear about and might read, or a web site I want to check out.

I write everything down in different coloured notebooks ……
I have to, or else , I couldn’t remember all the things I have to do or to tell people šŸ˜³šŸ˜‚
just looking at my pink book now, and it sayes ……..don’t forget to book gardener up for end of march , and ask son to pick up a new lock for the bathroom door ……ohhh , and I must email my friend 🤪

Me... I write a diary /journal every day.. and the little notebook which lives in my bag I write in if I'm out and about and stop for a drink.,... have done for decades..., and I've kept all those diaries.. I have about 3 boxes full ... here's some of my old ones...

This is such a delightful post, @timoc! I understand what you are going through, and it's wonderful that you and your lady friend enjoy sharing your news! I think women in general like to talk more than men, but I might be wrong. I jot my news down on a piece of paper, but I also like the idea of a notebook! It's more organized.:)

I am amazed at your collection of diaries @hollydolly! That's a treasure trove of your thoughts, ideas, and news. Have you ever thought of publishing any of it as short stories or poems? Just a thought....:)

On paper my notes are often undecipherable. A couple of words and I don’t have a clue what I meant. A couple of years ago I was gifted a nice hardcover book for by the drug store to make notes re makeup. I list my dinner ideas in it so it comes in handy.

Mostly I just use my phone/ipad to write notes or reminders.

those are just a fraction of the completed diaries from over the years .. they've followed me on all my travels, all around Europe.. where I worked , lived or been on holiday.. they take up the minutiae of my days here in the UK.. thanks for the idea of publishing them Palides..:D I'm sure no-one would be interested tho'.. plus I wouldn't even know where to start to sort them into some kind of readable material... there's at least 20 years worth......

A book? Holly, there's enough there for a set of encyclopedias, but I'm sure it would be a good read. 😊

Great story, @timoc!

I'm too cheap to buy a notebook! :giggle:

I use an old envelope salvaged from the junk mail.

The outside of the envelope becomes a two-week appointment calendar. The inside of the envelope is stuffed with scraps of paper covered with my notes, lists, recipes, etc...

Every two weeks, I transfer my notes and the relevant bits of paper to a fresh envelope.

@timoc I think the notebook is a great idea.

These days I just have notes for people I don't talk to on a regular basis.

My hubby has a habit of reading my notes that I write as reminders for myself. For some reason this bothers me to death.
One day I wrote a note writing the first thing that came to my mind. I wrote, "red shoes." This meant nothing to me. I saw him read the note and he must have pondered that for the rest of the day and he even went back to it a time or two, yet he wouldn't ask me what it meant.
To this day I'm sure he wonders about the red shoes.
Now he leaves my notes alone because he knows he can't figure them out.

Note to self this morning. ā€œscratch scratch water bottle.ā€ It took me a couple of hours to translate it. I wrote it in low light and the pen wasn’t working at first so I did some scratching. It was a reminder to search Amazon for a heavy duty hot water bottle.

LOL....I've done that! 😁

I don't use a notebook for most conversations, but I do use a little one when I go to my primary care doctor. I always seem to have about 4-5 things to ask him about, and want to make sure I don't forget any of them. It's very useful.
I have a medical notebook, too. It has my medical history, etc. I worked in a hospital for 20 years, and I saw just how helpful it is to have this info handy during an energy!
