In our ten years of traveling around the country 4-5 months a year, we hit a lot of historic sites, battlefields, old towns, graveyards, old prisons and the sites of old prison camps (like Andersonville), etc. I'd say we hit most of the major battlefields of the American Revolution and the Civil War.
Other battle sites were the Alamo and sites of some of the ranch wars out west.
Outside the U.S., the most interesting one I toured was Gallipoli on the 100th anniversary of the battle (Anzac Day).
