Sometimes you just can't win. Some immigrants have escaped a bad situation in their mother land and immigrated to Canada for a better life. Many make it but some don't. Some end up sleeping on the streets of our largest city, Toronto.

Why you ask? Well, the powers that be in Toronto say that it is the problem of Ottawa who brought them to Canada in the 1st place. I'm not sure what excuse Ottawa has but if you read the article maybe you'll be enlightened?

According to the NEW agreement between Canada and the USA...........If the seekers travelled THROUGH a "safe third country " LIKE THE USA< before they arrived at OUR borders, they MUST be sent back to that "Safe third country "> meaning the USA. Refugees MUST obey the rules, just like everyone ELSE. The Feds need to gather them all up, and take them to a central location, where they can be interveiwed, identified, and ajudicated. Canada is not required to open our doors to every person who "thinks " they have a claim to refugee status. JimB.

Wait, what? I thought your PM welcomed everyone, especially refugees? Until it becomes a problem. Kinda like Martha’s Vineyard sending migrants back to the mainland because they don’t have the facilities to deal with them. The stark reality is that this mass migration is a huge burden for any first world country to take on.

John , once again, you are confusing Immigrants, with refugees. Immigrants apply, go through the process, and IF THEY QUALIFY, they are approved to COME TO CANADA. Refugees don't do any of that. They simply SHOW UP AT OUR BORDERS, and expect to be welcomed by Canadians. The Feds are legally responsible for dealing with refugees, not the Provinces, or the cities. The Refugee and Immigration Board has the legal ability to detain, and judge the applications of Refugees in Canada. About 80 percent of the refugee claims are being denied, based on the application of the UN Refugee Charter regulations. The Board is finding that MOST of the refugees, are ECONOMIC refugees, not people fleeing war or genocide.

An example of lawful Immigrants are the Ukrainian women and their children that Canada has welcomed here. Over one million applications have been submitted, with 789,000 individuals approved and landed in Canada, so far. I will point out that the Government of Ukraine will NOT allow males age 18 to 60 to leave their country. Those males MUST join the Ukraine Military, or the fire fighting service , or the Ambulance service, instead. In October of this year, those female Ukrainian citizens all ready in Canada will be allowed to apply to stay in Canada, permanently along with their kids. JimB.

You are badly miss-informed. Canada's policy on refugees is simple. A person has to be fleeing their own country, due to a state of war, or religious strife, or genocide, in order to QUALIFY under the United Nations Refugee Charter regulations. Canada sends inspection teams to places where Refugees are waiting over seas to be interviewed by those teams, to establish their status. The people who have arrived at our borders ARE NOT genuine UN Charter Refugees. They are ECONOMIC refugees, instead. The Canadian Refugee and Immigration Board judges their applications, and in MOST cases ( about 90 percent ) they are deported back to their country of origin, by Canada, with a life time ban on returning here.

Lets not confuse LEGAL Immigrant applicants, with illegal refugee claimants. JImB.
