Homeowners insurance premium shot up from last year

We've ben paying premiums to the same insurance company for 45 years and only put in one claim, for a broken pipe under the kitchen sink.

A few months ago we filed a claim for a new roof due to hail and storm damage. The roofer estimates his cost at $23,000. The Insurance company just sent us a check for $300. That's all they'll pay. Thanks a lot.

Not to hijack Debs thread but this is related to unfair price gouging.

Received this invoice today from my propane supplier, now they're going to start charging a "minimum usage fee" if you don't use enough propane over the year. They're penalizing people for being energy conservative! Un believable! Yes I called and lit them up, they will wave it "THIS TIME" but in the future I need to make sure I use 350 gals. minimum per year or will be charged the $200 penalty.

With the government so focused on energy conservation I wonder how a rule like that can be legal.

Do you still maintain collision insurance coverage on your car?

If so, it might make sense to drop it and self insure due to the age of the vehicle.

I’m afraid that everything will continue to go up until we get past all of this tariff business and I’m afraid that once prices and wages adjust to the tariffs nothing will come down.

When I had my 17 year-old car, I looked at dropping collision, but I was only paying 5/a month for it so I kept it. There was no point in dropping it for that price.
