Many years ago, I saw Billy Graham during one of his crusades. He was a great preacher and one of the very few, that I know of, who didn't get caught with his hand in the till. My ideal for an honest preacher will always be Billy Graham. Apparently, he was good friends with Johnny Cash and June Carter.
On the other side of the "preacher business," many years ago, I visited For Mill, South Carolina, which was built by Jim and Tammy Bakker. I believe they had the childhood home of Billy Graham on the property. Really, it was religion gone mad and perhaps could only happen in the good ole' USA but I could be wrong. They had a huge TV studio, 501 room hotel, shopping complex, campground, water park, skating rink, etc. They were even in the timeshare business. Apparently, it's all gone now but my wife and I visited just after Jim proved to be a "naughty, bad" boy and Tammy was on the TV with tears dissolving her makeup.
At one time, Heritage USA employeed 2,500 people. That must of been some payday down there. Guess where all that money came from? Yup! You got it right! All them folks going to heaven! I believe that Heritage USA is an excellent proof of the belief that money and/or fame corrupts.
